We were fortunate to see Arlo Guthrie in the Opera House for a great night of fun. Handicapped people or very large people may not have it so good. Restrooms are down a flight of stairs, or outside and around a corner. Do be prepared to climb stairs. Small bar downstairs, tucked into a corner.

We enjoyed a delightful Arlo Guthrie concert at this intimate, historic theater—our third time attending an event there. Acoustics, sound system, lighting, and sight-lines are excellent. The theater’s website makes it easy to order tickets in advance. This performance hall is a Galveston treasure. If you can’t make a performance, be sure to at least take a tour.

We went to this theater to see the Midtown Men. The concert was really fun, but the theater was exquisite. Only drawback was the seating in the balcony was "tight"...my knees were aching by the time we left due to not being able to stretch out my legs, but the seats themselves were comfortable. Seating on the main level may... More

We stopped to tour the Opera House during the afternoon. We did pay, but not too much. It was fun going to the top floor and working our way down. It has been renovated and looks great. I would like to see a show there now.

We have a second home in Galveston and truly enjoy our season tickets to the Grand 1894 Opera House. We pick 6 shows for the season and plan an event around the show. We enjoy seeing a variety of Shows, like Comedy, acrobatics, folklife and music shows. We go out for dinner before the show and have a drink after... More

The Grand 1894 Opera House is a theater frozen in time. A visit feels like a trip to turn of the century Galveston (before the Great Storm) when the city was the most populous and cosmopolitan in Texas. The venue is a small one which makes every performance intimate. Make sure to get an aisle seat if you are on... More

Restored Pre-1900 Opera house built when Galveston was booming as the center of commerce in Texas. Incredible atmosphere, and world class entertainment and musicals. A tremendous, intimate venue for live entertainment.

We heard an amazing band play music from the 40s and 50s. Loved every minute of it. This is such a great place to go as a group or single or as a couple. Beautiful architecture with a lot of history..

This is a very nice venue, but if you have long legs, better pick your seat carefully. I've been to many old theaters and this one is very nice. But some of the gushing reviews are a little over the top. It's nice, but not as ornate as I would have expected. Don't get me wrong - this is a... More

Thank you for your review of The Grand. I'm sorry the leg room was not adequate for your needs - I'm sure you can appreciate the fact that folks were much shorter in stature back in 1894. Our theatre's seat blueprint is kept as close to the original from 1894 and in order to hold the 1000+ seats, it does... More
