Night before cruise

It's a nice area, worthy of a weekend trip, getaway. Couples getaway. We would go back and explore more of the area.

I wouldn't recommend the Port of Galveston for those that are flying in from further destinations. If you live close and can save a lot of money by just driving there, then ok. It really does look like they tried to make a cruise ship port out of an industrial one. But my biggest complaint, and I don't complain much,... More

First thing in your bundle of paperwork in your cabin is an apology but you will have to pay TX taxes on all duty free items whether you live in TX or not!!! $15 per carton of cigarettes Upwards to around $10 per bottle of liquor, never in 25 years of nationwide cruises have we seen such a rip-off, although... Great cruise on the Carnival Freedom. But the port is poorly designed. Looks like they decided to squeeze a cruise ship port into an industrial waterfront. Not laid out well and poor signage. The porters were however very friendly and took care of their clients. Disembarkation was slow (who knows why). But the pick up area was very crowded and... More

We have gone on a number of cruises out of Galveston over the last few years. While it is not the best port we have been in, it is far from the worst. On cruise day, you will want to make sure you have your parking reservations made in advance. Parking near the terminal is the number one "con" I... More

It was Phenomenal!! Mind you, I am a 4 Star Mariner with HAL and Diamond with RCL. We have been over 300 days at sea with other cruise lines. This is THE best multi-generational cruise experience! We had four stateroom with balconies next to each other. On the Disney Wonder it snowed in the Lobby (by the life size Ginger... More

I took Carnival Magic cruise in December 2015 and it departed from the port of Galveston. The port is a little dirty but since it's the only option in the state of Texas, one can not argue much about it. The terminal is huge and it will take approximately 1 hour for you to navigate and check in. I would... More

Used exec car from IAH to the Day's Inn, met by driver in the baggage area and the ride was about 90 minutes ($160). Went to the terminal via Yellow Cab on cruise day and had no problems. Porters quickly collected our baggage. Carnival reps formed lines according to check in window and though lengthy it went smoothly. On the... More

I opted for transportation using NCL because I was traveling solo. I was disappointed because NCL had fabulous service up to that point. There was nothing to help with luggage. No porters, no luggage trolley or baggage cart. Arriving from 16 day transAtlantic, I had a bit of luggage. I was demanded to transport my own luggage as nothing else... More
