This giant backlit cross is a real road hazard! We thought we were driving into a tornado eastbound on route 40 last night until we got close enough to see what it was. Should not be allowed to be lit up at night!!!!!

On a trip out west, we passed through Amarillo & stopped at Groom, TX to view the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. On the south side of I-40. Take exit 112, then drive west to the cross. In addition to the stations of the...More

This place is impressive. A 19 story cross can be seen from miles away. Upon arrival, visit the 14 stations of Christ during the crucifixion. Plan to spend 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on if you are in a rush.

This is such a moving, spiritual opportunity to view the Passion of Christ in sculptures. There are plaques to tell about each of the sculptures. There is such a peace and serenity here. The 19 story cross sits in the middle of the sculptures. This...More

Some friends recommended that if we were out on Interstate 40 we should find this cross and stop. It was late afternoon, and although we could walk around and take photos, everything was pretty much locked up. This site was built to provide a counter-balance...More

This was an interesting stop on I40. The cross is very large. There are a few other things to look at outside. It's typically ridiculously windy in that area. They have a nice large gift shop with restrooms, so that is a plus. Just not...More

Loved it. Could see it from the interstate. It stands proudly amidst the barren land. Of course in this part of the country, you can see for miles!

We stopped here as planned on Wednesday after Easter. Very awe inspiring spiritually. The cross itself is a beacon to help direct you to all that lies at it's base. So don't just drive by on I-40. Go off the main road, experience some of...More

This huge white cross at 190 feet tall is the 7th largest in the world and located next to US Interstate 40, the former path of the historic Route 66. Around the base of the cross are impressive life-size and life-like detailed statue sculptures of...More

Went to see the Leaning Tower of Texas and got a view of this from I-40 on the way to Amarillo. It seems like a gaudy tourist gimmick, but you can see it from the interstate and skip the gimmickry.

There is no cost! It's a wayside privately sponsored, I'm sure. It's amazing.
