We parked in front of this Victorian-styled courthouse and walked around the grounds. Check out the clock that remains from the 1993 fire. After the fire, Willy Nelson (a Hill County native) held concerts to raise money to help re-build the courthouse. Inside, check out the iron stairs. Peak into the courtrooms (when not in session). Go below ground and... More

This was an interesting courthouse. The original one had a fire and the dome part caved in. You can see a list of donors who helped rebuild.Willie Nelson gave a couple of concerts to help rebuild.

This is one of the nicer courthouses in Texas. It was restored in the 90s and the new bell tower is fantastic. At noon we were treated to some great music as well. There are a few interesting monuments outside including the old bell. Definitely worth a stop if you are into Texas courthouses or just great buildings. The courthouse... More

Hillsboro has done an awesome deed by restoring their courthouse. Absolutely beautiful! They have a farmer's market on Saturdays during the summer.

Great courthouse. One of the prettiest I've ever seen. It has great architecture and character. Town has friendly people. There is a great restaurant right on the south east corner of the courthouse square named Frankie's. Great fun for a day trip

After a devastating fire, the Hill County Courthouse was restored to its original condition. The District Courtroom has had it's balcony restored. This is really a must see on a visit to Hillsboro.

Well-maintained lovely old courthouse. Beautiful tile throughout. Don't miss the vaults in the basement. Felt haunted, staff reported same.

One of the most beautiful courthouses I've ever visited. It has the old bell from the original courthouse on display with a plaque that tells the history.

A beautiful old piece of history, fixed it up nice since the fire (20 or so years ago), looks just like it did in decades past. Nice centerpiece to downtown.
