Very pretty campus with lots of trees and green space. Track runs around the perimeter of the campus, about three miles. The school of music offers free performances on a regular basis. Grounds include one of the better pieces by James Turrell called Twilight Epiphany which is certainly worth visiting, particular at dusk.

The green spaces and architecture make for a lovely walk, and the jogging/walking trail around the campus, framed by live oaks, is a great place to get a little fitness in.

This is a beautiful campus that is encompassed by Rice Village and beautiful old homes, as well as the Houston Museum district and the Houston Medical Center complex.

Streets with old oak canopies and old buildings make this a charming campus. Drive slow (you'll get a ticket) to really take in the scenery and architecture. Some streets are one-way - be careful.

Take your time to leisurely walk around and even go inside some of the buildings. You'll see beautiful architecture, art, and most likely met some fascinating people to chat with too! If you're there toward twilight time, see the James Turrell's "Twilight Epiphany" Skyspace. This place is a photographers dream!

As a musician, I was impressed as I played in this intimate chapel - the warmth of the wood and the impressive expanse created by the ceiling and the windows created a lovely place for wedding celebrations.

In my opinion, Rice, on a national scale is very under-rated. It has an excellent academic reputation and a beautiful campus. One remarkable aspect is that it is a self-contained beautiful campus (no through city streets) in the middle of the fourth largest (soon to be third largest) city in the USA. It's facilities are outstanding and Rice offers excellent... More

The library is a great research venue and I often use it for their computer, scanners and printers plus books, too.

I traveled to this campus to audition for the television show "Shark Tank." My son (age 14 at the time, he's 16 now) traveled with me. As soon as we passed by the campus he immediately became intrigued. He turned to me and said, "Mom I've changed my mind. I'm not going to LSU, I'm coming here!!!!" I do not... More
