This is regarding the Cherie Flores Garden Pavilion.
I admit this incident happened yrs ago BUT my brother & I got locked inside the garden! We had to climb over a high metal gate to get out. My brother was close to 60 yrs old, then. I'm close to his age.
I live near Houston & called the McGovern Gardens office the next day and was told this wasn't the 1st time people were locked inside!
Backstory: My brother was in Houston for a cancer check up. I picked him up & brought him to this garden just hrs before his flight home.
This was my (and his) 1st visit to the garden.
My brother & I mostly sat by the entrance but when we went to leave, there were locked gates across the main entrance. After, my brother told me he saw a "guy" or a "guard" passing by us, around dusk. There was no announcement "The garden is closing", or an alarm or a bell. The " guy" or "guard" never approached us, he JUST locked us in.

We were fortunate to visit McGovern Centennial Gardens on a sunny day during our most recent stay in Houston. Clean, peaceful, relaxing, and beautiful gardens can be seen in this location. I loved the Japanese gardens in this location, and felt extremely safe during this pandemic. I certainly recommend this place for a nice walk and being able to disconnect from reality.

We were in the museum district of Houston and saw this beautiful park. We decided to get out and walk around. Why not? It’s free and everyone could use a stretch! It was gorgeous even in February! Lots of space to run, walk, sit and admire. We enjoyed walking up the dome.
Sculptures and many different flower gardens to enjoy.

These gardens are truly beautiful and free to view. We loved the water feature. The vegetable and fruit gardens were very neat, we loved seeing the way different things grew (like a pineapple 🍍) The walks are very peaceful and the day was gorgeous

I visit here frequently for a walk in the park. It is always beautiful and I especially love the garden area with the vegetables and fruit. There is a little free library in that area too. Great place to walk dogs or have a picnic

The McGovern Centennial gardens are inside Hermann Park right next to the Houston Museum of Natural Science. They have a lovely gallery of sculptures and a rose garden. And a large tea pavillion. Very suitable for organising special events or photoshoots - for which prior permission should be sought. Access is free though.

This is a different kind of park, at least here in Houston, something more similar to some European green spaces designed for relaxing and a convenient café in-site; yet the McGovern Centennial Gardens have thematic zones, like a rose, arid, and woodland gardens, a piney trail with a pretty Chinese pavillion; one thing you'll immediately noticed upon arrival is "The Mount," a man-made hill with a cascade and a spiraling path that invites you to walk up to the top – don't miss it, go up!

They keep improving the parks and facilities in Hermann Park. This is a wonderful place to hang out on a nice day. It can get pretty crowded, but everyone is respectful of each other's space, so it's always manageable.

Free. Also Hermann Park is free that surrounds its. You can take a super train ride which I think is a dollar and you can rent paddle boats. The zoo is there too and I believe Thursday's are free. Check it out in website.
