What a great place to get away from it all! It's not too far from Houston, where I live, but just far enough! We went Sunday through Wednesday. When we got there we pretty much had a empty park and had every site to pick from, so we drove around a while. Since we've never been here before, we thought... More

Visited the Huntsville State Park (Texas) for family outing. Hiked about two miles on nature trail. Park has camping & RV sites, nature trails, water sports and small beach for swimming in the lake.

This park is a great weekend day trip for my dog and I. We walk on the trails, which are well kept, and enjoy the view of the lake. The park rangers are visible and keep everyone safe. The camping sites look pleasant, but I have never camped here because I am a cabin/shelter sort of camper and Texas State... More

In my opinion the park needs to be renovated a little bit. Restrooms that we used didn't have any soap and the hand dryer was not working. Also everything inside the restroom was very old. The playground was ancient: wooden slide and rusted swings. And why there should be a private residence inside of the borders in the center of... More

Not too far to do a quick camping trip from Houston. The park is pretty well kept and there are tons of trails! Have fun geocaching, enjoying the water and nature. Nice place to take photos and have some fun exploring.

I was at this park to take part in a 50 mile race. The trails are just gorgeous and well marked, and some lovely views.

Camped here twice, once in covered shelter spot, once in heated shelter spot. Both were great. Clean bathrooms (no kidding!) beautiful campsites on the lake. Friendly staff. Trails well marked. Great facilities for groups.

Great outdoors is close to civilization. Rangers helpful as are other staff and volunteers. Amazing trails to roam by hundreds of miles. Water sports, trails and camping to your heart's content.

We had visited during winter where it was much quieter though the weather was perfect. You can spend a whole day here and relax. You can rent a canoe and/or paddle boards and walk trails with options of how long you want to hike. Some of the trails are mountain bike friendly. It's a very peaceful environment.

Tall oak trees, luscious vegetation. We live in Houston- so its more like camping in your back yard Camping was decent but not "special". My biggest complaint- was that camp spots were on a the park's main busy street- my kids had a hard time riding bikes because of my fear of them getting ran over by fast truck driving... More
