Neolithic Britons (or nature-worshiping Druids or space aliens, depending on who you listen to) began assembling Stonehenge on the plains of Salisbury, England more than 5000 years ago. Its original purpose is still under debate ... but there is no mystery (or purpose, really) behind the Texas Hill Country's version. Stonehenge II was created as an art project by the late Al Shepperd, a Hill Country Arts Foundation patron, and his neighbor Doug Hill more than 20 years ago on Shepperd's land in nearby Hunt, Texas. Stonehenge II It took nine months to build and is 90 percent the height and 60 percent the width as the original. Giving free range to his fanciful notion, Shepperd added two 13-foot Easter Island head replicas for good measure. After Shepperd's death, the megalithic circle along with its Easter Island sidekicks needed a new home. In an effort to preserve this true Texas landmark, the sculptures were relocated stone-by-stone to their final resting place beside the Guadalupe River on the campus of the Hill Country Arts Foundation.

Encore is an affiliate of the Hill Country Arts Foundation, a community theater and art gallery. The food is well-prepared and creative. Service is helpful, but limited. Order at the counter to be delivered to your table. Self-serve beverages plus wine and beer. Only ambience...More

This is a perfect picnic spot. Tons of flowers surrounded the Stonehenge II and the weather cooperated nicely with a cool breeze on a warm day. It is a perfect spot to just rest, eat and share thoughts with those closest to you.

This attraction is located on the edge of Ingram, Texas at the Hill Country Arts Foundation and Point Theater. It is primarily a quick "photo op," and while it can be difficult to take photos because there are other structures on the background, this is...More

This was a free attraction and that was about what it was worth. Not really much to see. Great for a photo opportunity.

Nice replica of Stonehenge, good for a few minutes of photo opportunities. There is a restaurant and an arts center in the area but both were closed during our visit.

Worth the stop if you enjoy ridiculous roadtrip photos. I also recommend Foamhenge in VA, Truckhenge in KS. Next stop Bamahenge.

Not much to see... a replica; although not completely accurate, of Stonehenge in England. Worth a quick stop for its quirkiness. Snap a pic of it and the big Easter Island heads for a laugh...

We stopped here when staying in Kerville, TX. We managed to miss the real one in England last summer and had to make up for it! A bit boring for young children, being that there is nothing close by or at the location to keep...More

We don't have RV parking facilities, but our parking lot is large enough to accommodate an RV and we are close to several RV parks.
