A one-hour tour of one of Jefferson's most historic - and haunted - locations. The Grove is an 1861 home that uniquely mirrors the history of the riverport city... and the ghost stories there go back over 100 years. The history of the home is fascinating; it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and is a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark. Along with the history, though, you'll hear ghost stories from the owners and find out just what it's like to live in a haunted home. Come visit The Grove for a peek into Jefferson's past... and a few residents who may still be hanging around!

The Grove tour was so informative, full of history & loved the fun, not scary ghost stories. Best of all it was affordable.

My 12 year old grandson and I visited Jefferson, TX. We stayed at the Excelsior Hotel and took a tour of The Grove. The owner and author of many books, Mitchel Whitington was our tour guide. He was so knowledgeable about his home but also about the historic town of Jefferson. One of the best tours I've ever taken.

My husband and I really enjoyed our tour with Mitchell. What a nice guy! I really enjoyed visiting with him. This is a favorite stop when we go to Jefferson! I have heard it is very exceptional to see at the Christmas in Candlelight tour. Mitchell was very kind and was more than willing to sign our "ghost" books as... More

This was an interesting visit with the owner of the home who recounted its renovation and shared stories of events experienced by himself and others. The homeowner, Mitchel Whittington, is an excellent storyteller and is a published author.

The owner of the house is not only a gifted writer but a gifted story teller. We enjoyed every story about the history of this house especially the "haunting" stories. If you like history and ghosts this IS for you. Make sure you make reservations because this is their home. Also, use restroom before you arrive. Mitchel Whittington also has... More

I've always been interested in the supernatural so when my husband and I spent our anniversary weekend in Jefferson, I was excited to visit The Grove! Mitchel, the current owner of the house is well informed on the area's history so this tour is informative. Since the house is so old, it also has ties to a lot of that... More

My wife and I were there today, a must see if going to Jefferson. Home has a very interesting history. Mr. Whitington really added to the tour, besides being very knowledgably about the history of the Grove you could tell he really loved the old house. He and Mrs. Whitington have kept the house in the correct time period. Take... More

Have taken the tour of The Grove at least 3 times. It's fun and very informative. My husband had not been on the tour so we went over the weekend when we in town. Mitchel knows his history and he makes the tour very fun. Suppose to be a haunted home, but never had anything happen while we were there.

The Grove is a Greek Revival home, which is not grand but has an interesting history. The author who owns the house gives you a good look at the history of Jefferson, a great deal of information on the history of the house and the renovations that were done and good stories of the ghostly happenings in the area as...
