The first time I went to the Slab, the water was rushing over it so fast it was impossible to drive through! There were cars every where and the place was packed! A month later, the road was again open to traffic, parking is along side where ever a spot can be found. Swimming holes near the road are relatively... More

Very pretty hill country spot. It's really a shame people don't seem to pick up after themselves there.

The slab is a great place to hike around and explore the many rock formations and colors along with the different pools/streams of water. It's best to get there early especially if you have small children. It's cooler and much calmer(less people)at that time. There is a small trail on the east side of the slab that you can hike... We recently took our grandkids to the Slab even though we've lived in the area for over 8 years. They LOVED it! Bring your lawn chairs and cooler and you're good to go. Granted it's a FREE visit and sometimes that brings a variety of folks but they is plenty of places to park and wade. Just a fun afternoon.

We will definitely be returning next spring. Flowers were in full bloom. Water was perfect. Not too crowded. Out of the way with plenty of space to enjoy your privacy.

I wouldn't allow my kids to be left here alone because there is traffic and some shady characters but it's a very cool place to visit especially on hot days!

Beautiful spot - fun to wade and to show visitors - wouldn't swim but see many swimmers there. Especially fun after a rain!

Beautiful spot on the llano river that is free! The river flows over black and pink granite and you can find all sorts of arrowheads and fossils here. Beautiful for swimming or laying in a waterfall.

Back in the 60's, this was a little-known very lovely oasis, but over the years became increasingly popular, so much so that apparently now in the summer is overrun. Still, in the off season, it is a must visit, and worth it to take a long walk and swim in. Just wear shoes, as there is broken glass.

Nice place to go cool off in the heat of the Texas summer, paddle in the rock pools........... You could take a picnic and enjoy an afternoon.
