Many will say a dam is just a dam and while that may be true you need to look for the items which make each unique. This is the largest lake located entirely in Texas and the power plant is coming along nicely. There is great bar fish8ng in the pool below the dam and good camping.

This is one of the best Alligator Gar fishing sites on the Trinity River. Below the dam is an excellent birding destination and I haven't seen so many species since the Rookery at High Island. White egrets, snowys, great blues, little blues, black crowned, yellow crowned, kingfishers, both vultures, a brown booby, cormorants, white pelicans, and more!!

Lake Livingston is beautiful. The dam is disgusting. This is what the beach area below the dam looks like. Do not waste your money paying to park up top at the Browsers gas station/marina. Unless of course you are just going down there to dump your trash.

WE love water and the dam is beautiful. it is not so big as any other dams out there. However, it is enough to have a great view.

This Dam is being overhauled to create power for the community. It serves as a barrier to the largest lake in the state of Texas. The man made lake called Lake Livingston was built for the city of Houston in need of a water supply. Houston is now the largest city in the state of Texas. This Dam is powerful and does not open very much to full capacity but when it does, it floods a lot of land and property. Take a trip to see the landmark on the outskirts of Livingston, Texas but in the county of Polk (named after President Polk) in the original spot where the Livingston community was generated.

The view from the bridge shows a really good view of the dam gates and is great for photo taking. Nice scenic area with fishermen down below and camping nearby.

This dam is a monastery and now being redeveloped for hydro electrical power. The dam holds back lake Livingston the second largest lake in Texas and is run by the trinity River authority. F

Another experience quashed by the pandemic. We tried to get to the dam on a Saturday and everything was locked up totally. The little peek we got of the lake looked inviting.
