About
McPherson Cellars is a contemporary winery, tasting room, and event venue in Lubbock, Texas. We work with fruit entirely from the Texas High Plains AVA, available for purchase in our tasting room, online, throughout Texas and many other states. Our downtown tasting room allows guests to taste an array of wines, ranging from Albarino to Sangiovese and several blends in between. We believe that Texas wines can be world class, and aim to offer a relaxed and convivial space to share our wine and philosophy with our friends and community. Open Monday through Saturday for tasting flights, wines by the glass or bottle, and complimentary tours.

This wine is spectacular. After living in Texas for 20+ years, only in the last two years or so have I discovered any drinkable wine made here. Comanche has a good winery, as do Brownwood and Fort Davis, but I think McPherson's may be the best in the state; it could definitely hold its own with California wines. Forget the Hill Country--Lubbock/West Texas is where the good Texas wine lives.

We are in the wine industry and like to visit the competition. The wine here is great and reasonably priced and the service was excellent. The building is an old coke plant so that is an interesting addition to the experience. If you like wine it is a great place.

I had my wedding there a few weeks ago. The ultra-watt lights in the bridal room made the room extremely hot- sweating while you're getting ready is not ideal. The staff turned the water on to fill up the fountain after the ceremony and forgot to turn it off- it OVERFLOWED into the floor causing a huge mess during the reception (right under the food table). Mops and loud floor cleaners during food service is also not ideal. Their sound adapter shorted out right in the middle of the father/daughter dance, and even after they switched out a second adapter, it continued to short out the entire night. They served the wrong wine at the reception. And to top it off, they have completely blamed every mishap on me and the wedding guests. Kristen was really great during the planning period. Susan Sexton (the general manager) was as UNpleasant as they come. She brought up "lawsuit" the moment I tried to recieve some resolution for their imprudence. You do not want to deal with such a nightmare during what should be the most joyful time of your life. I highly recommend looking at other venues before choosing McPherson Cellars. Such a horrible experience.

McPherson Cellars Winery is one of my husband's and my favorite destinations for a relaxing night out on the town in West Texas. Their nights on the patio are just the best: laid back and fun with live music, good food and of course, great wine. If you are a Lubbockite who appreciates a good local wine and music but have never been to McPherson Cellars Winery, you should definitely pull up their events calendar and pay them a visit. You won't regret it!

McPherson recently won a best-in-class at Pacific Rim. Our visit showed why. Their roussanne, sangiovese and cabernets are in the same class as Napa or Sonoma. A bit crowded at the tasting bar, but a great experience from the family that pretty much started the Texas wine renaissance.

In town for a wedding and hubby needed out of the room. I tricked my beer drinking hubby into going for a ride. We ended up at a nearby local winery tasting room. We had a great server who helped us through our choices. We ended up with eight bottles and five of them we both liked. Good stop, knowledgeable staff and just a nice little secret spot to stop for a glass or two.

I found the McPherson cellars to be a very nice and cosy place that offers a great choice of local (west Texas) wines for a reasonable price.

The first waitress that addressed us was a little curt/short, but we walked up to the bar and it was a much better experience. (We cannot recall her name, but long blonde/red hair and going to law school - friendly and knows her stuff.) We enjoyed the five different wines in the flight - not sweet, and not too dry. We then sampled (and purchased) the Sangiovese; we also purchased the Doc from the flight. Highly recommend you checking out this place!

The Depot District is starting to come together as a real cohesive mix of music, clubs, food and true social activities. McPherson's not only produces some terrific Texas grown wines, but is a beautiful place in the Depot to enjoy local art, live music and some terrific tastings. This is where we start First Fridays events www.ffat.org with music and local artisans. I only wish they ran a bit later into the evening...

Attended the 3rd annual Wines and Vines Festival at McPherson Winery this past weekend. What fun. There was a nice assortment of wineries participating in the event. There was a cooking contest and a micro-brew tasting. The event was held over 2 days, and while we only attended the first day, we had a marvelous time. A great way to spend an afternoon in Lubbock!
