Great place for Buddy Holly memorabilia.
The Buddy Holly Center was a pretty cool stop we made in Lubbock. It's a small place but full of info on Buddy Holly. We timed it perfectly and we were able to tour the home next door, where the Dummer lived.

    Don’t miss this!
Even if you aren’t a Buddy Holly fan, but who isn’t, this is a very worthwhile stop. A short film briefly outlines his short life, and all he accomplished in only a couple of years. The entire array of displays is extremely well done! Lots of memorabilia and personal items add to the overall insight into his life. The only shortcoming was they should turn the background music up much louder. 😀

    Loved this little museum
I loved this little museum. Yes it is small and you won't be spending hours here. But Buddy Holley's career only lasted 18 months. There is a short film and a small museum with timelines of Holley’s life, photographs and furniture and personal belongings of Holley. Be sure to schedule your visit at a time when you can tour the Allison house. The women that ran the gift shop and conducted the tours were friendly and knowledgeable. There is a large parking lot, restrooms in the visitor center and a nice gift shop.

For all fans of rock n roll history
We were in Lubbock to visit the Buddy Holly Center. I always listened to Buddy Holly as a kid, my Dad was a big fan. He always said that if Buddy Holly hasn't died, that he would be bigger than Elvis. The museum is so well done, I learned so much about Buddy Holly and the origins, early days of rock n roll..I thought I knew a lot, but didn't know as much as I thought. The story of Buddy Holly is bittersweet. A very very young man at the height of his life. Successful, a new husband, about to be a father. He only had an 18 month career, but he accomplished so much ! Paul McCartney says, no Crickets, no Beatles! Across the street is the Buddy Holly statue and Texas, Walk of Fame. We also toured the home of AJ Allison , the Crickets drummer It's on the premesis. There's also a very good art exhibit and gift shop. We were there most of the day.

    Brilliant.
We took our 15 yr old Buddy Holly fan here and it was amazing. It was great to see all the original artifacts and the staff were incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. If you are a fan, this is the place. You can also visit the cemetery which was simple, but moving. It's a beautiful cemetery. There is also a statue nearby and a walk of fame. Lubbock is a friendly place and it was worth the 5000 mile trip to get here. We also got to see the original house that was used in Buddy's song writing days. A very reasonable entry price too.

Oh the things you can learn here! Fantastic homage to the great Buddy Holly. Makes you a little sad though. He was only on the music scene about 2 years and look at the impact he made. 22 years old when he died. Love the video showing those who were so influenced by him. JI’s house was a great exhibit. This is a great place to spend a rainy morning and then walk over to the Cast Iron Grill for great pie.

This was my first time to this venue and recently attended an Opera by Texas Tech students.
The venue was easy to find and there is a large parking lot.
When we parked we noticed a sign out front that mentioned clear bags only of certain size and no bags or purses. So two of us had to leave our purses in the car covered and go in without items we might have needed that were in our bags. Disappointedly once we were inside and before the performance began, we saw someone with a back pack, many attendees with shoulder purses as well as others with purses. We did notice one attendee with a clear bag but it was the size of a tote bag rather than a zip lock size bag.
So it was a bit irritating that the large sign outside that we adhered to was not enforced.
They need to take that sign down or enforce it.
Picking up at "Will Call" was easy and then to enter we went through metal detectors.
The inside entrance has a grand spiral stairway on each side and a large gathering area. There is a small bar area with snacks and candies along with drinks including cocktails and wine.
The items and pricing are posted on a board in front of the bar so you know ahead of time the costs.
If you are buying a cocktail or wine you MUST by a plastic souvenir cup for $3. It is a nice cup though with a lid. One of us got a single wine in a Sauvignon Blanc ($10) and it came in a small cup. Then the other ordered a Fools Paradise cocktail single ($10) at the same price but came in a cup twice the size of the wine. A box of candy was $5.
The seating is fairly standard design but they do have cup holders on the backs of the seats which made it very convenient in not having to hold the drink the entire time.
The seat aisles seemed a bit wider than some which made it easier to walk through people. The only issue with our row of seats is they seemed to be loose in that if one person got up, the seats in the row shook.
The performance was wonderfully presented with lovely voices, great costume design and set design. The music was very professional and on point with the actors.
A very nice venue especially in this smaller town.
