Even on Spring Break, while it was extra busy, it didn't feel overcrowded. We were especially enchanted with the hippo display and the giraffes. They have lots of benches and covered sitting areas if you need to rest or cool off - and they are really well planned - so you can sit and still enjoy the animals! A little... More

We always have a great time at the zoo. We usually make a day of it the kids play on the playgrounds and we ride the train and of course the animals are a big hit.

Ellen Trout Zoo is fun for the entire family. Remember to wear your walking shoes though. With a couple parks located on the outside, a train that will ride you around the whole zoo, and newly built walk/bike path that crosses the lake, be ready to spend the day and don't forget to pack a picnic.

For the size and price, this place can't be beat! I paid $21 to take a family of five in, and the kids loved it! Not too big to get tired or the kids to get bored, and not too small to seem a waste of time.

The Ellen Trout Zoo is a rare find for animal lovers and a must for people passing through East Texas. I put this zoo up against the ones in Dallas and Houston. You can easily walk through the zoo in a little over an hour and the exhibits are top notch and here, you can actually see the animals up... More

It's a bit small, but as a family we love to stroll around and look at all the animals. It's not an all day kinda trip with teens for kids, but it keeps us busy for a couple of hours.

We went to the zoo today and really enjoyed it. The atmosphere is peaceful and beautiful. Large animals and small. We saw several interesting and birds i had never seen at other zoos. Great for kids and we road the train too! Great time.

We went in November with the grandkids and purchased the grand parents pass. It can be used at other zoos too. We went back this week and feel in love with this zoo all over again! I took a video if the Hippo. He swam right up to the glass. And the tiger was talking LOUD. 😀. We love there... More

Went to the Ellen Trout Zoo with family (including 2 year old grandson) after Thanksgiving. It had been years since we visited the place when my son was small. I was surprised at how many animals were present in a small town. There is a large selection and grounds for the animals that need roaming space. Hippo, rhino, giraffes, lion,... More
