My future mother in law hosted a bridal shower for me at the Heard Craig this past weekend. It is an absolutely beautiful art museum and bridal shower venue. The staff on site during the event were very knowledgeable about the history of the home. I loved the private tea they held for us in the main museum, and all of the intricate woodwork and stained glass windows in the home! The Heard Craig is perfect for small gatherings and learning about the history of McKinney!

I attended a wedding shower for a friend there this weekend and had the best time. Great set up for meetings/parties, and the set up was perfect. Learning about the history of the gorgeous house and the art was an added bonus; definitely coming back for a full tour!

I recently visited to see an exhibit called "Collected Boxes... Anything But Empty," and to read the accompanying poem "In Boxes", both by Susan Mardele. The exhibit combines a beautifully written poem with the experience of exploring a lifetime collection of personal boxes. There's a narrative about each box, and, the arrangement of the boxes themselves were very artistic in a beautiful room of the mansion. I highly recommend visiting this historic Victorian mansion, garden, and carriage house. The knowledgeable and friendly staff will help guide you back in time and make your visit a special one.

A mansion built at the beginning of the 1900s by a local businessman. The built in china cabinet is a work of art itself. This really shows off the craftsmanship of the locals at the turn of the last century. The building also has art work from the original owner's daughter that was impressive as she was 7 years old when she painted it.
