This is such a gorgeous place for a day trip from Dallas or for a special dinner or event. Worth the drive. Mitas Hill is especially beautiful on a crisp fall evening. Definitely try the smores dessert!

Mitas Hill has a huge vineyard located just outside of McKinney. Their property is beautiful. I really appreciate that they grow so many varietals in North Texas. Many people will try to tell you that you can't grow a wide variety of grapes outside of the South Plains but that is not true, and Mitas Hill is a great example. Their wines are good, too. Sit by the big windows in the tasting room and try them all. They are one of the few vineyards in the country growing the Venus grape, and the Black Gypsy wine made from it is very good. We didn't get any food this time, but it looked and smelled amazing so we'll have to travel back that way again in the future.…

What a wonderful experience! Heard so much about this place from some of our friends, we decided to go for lunch. We had the Chicken Chipotle pizza, crust was very good, not too thin and not too thick - just right! The adobo sauce was very good as well, had a little zing to it, but not too much heat. Since this was a spur of the moment decision, we did not have reservations to do the wine tour. We were so impressed by the property, we promptly asked about it and they were very accommodating to get us in at the last minute. Our tour was very educational and we were so impressed with the quality of grape they grow. I am very skeptical about Texas wine in general, so thought this would just be another mediocre wine experience. I was completely wrong. Their Zinfandel, Tempranillo and Syrah are very good, my favorite was the Zinfandel. We will definitely be back to try more of their food items, hang out on the patio and drink some very nice wine. The wine is reasonably priced, so stock up!…

Harold, the owner, spared no expense establishing his winery, and it shows in the quality of the grapes, the taste of the wines, and the beautiful buildings and settings. Online hours may post as closed, but I suggest you call to see if they are indeed open. Eboni did a wonderful job pouring for us and talking with us, and made our visit very enjoyable. There was another man working there, sorry I forgot his name, that is very knowledgeable about wines, and really gave us an education. The wines lean toward heavy reds, and are all excellent. They had an excellent Tempranillo.…
