We stopped at the Chestnut Square Historic Village but found out that they were closed on Tuesday so we walked around the grounds. There were several buildings that could be toured when open.

We have been very lucky this year, the produce is excellent. We try to go every Saturday and pick up our fruits and vegetables. We love home grown tomatoes, peaches, new potatoes and cantaloupe.. The vendors are all north Texas farmers and the produce is excellent. There are also arts and crafts booths as well.

I thought I was going to a farmers market in McKinney but it was more than that. I had not expected to find the beautiful old buildings, pretty yards, homes with porches and a true market that delivered jams, breads, honey, all kinds of fruit and vegetables. I felt like I had gone back in time when life was simpler and you could actually taste food at its' purist. There was lovely ice cream and a bonus of a petting zoo for us all to enjoy from a local group of farmers. I recommend it highly.

As a McKinney resident we are lucky to have a excellent farmers market. We have been visiting this for years. It was originally just in the Chestnut Square area which is neat in its own way. It’s like a old small village on the frontier. When the city moved the Court House and then developers put it the new apartment complex the farmers market moved to the other side of the square in a parking lot. It just wasn’t the same. Now it’s back in Chestnut Square and has gotten so big it spills out on the street in front of it. All kinds of local goods including fruits, veggies, meats, breads, cheese, and so much more. There is someone always cooking breakfast and lunch items. You can now even get CBD candles and hand made art pieces from several folks. Highlights for me are the grass fed meat folks, Citas Salsa, and the numerous offerings from farmers in the area. They also have pony rides for kids and other activities to keep them happy. Really a neat place to go with family or solo to have some fun and pick up some great local goods.
