About
Escape the hustle and bustle of the Greek capital at Glyfada Beach on the Athens Riviera. With a peaceful atmosphere and pristine white sand, it's the perfect spot to unwind for the day. You can also head to the neighboring marina to take a boat tour of the surroundings. The best part—this is one of the few beaches along Athens' southern coast that offers free umbrellas and showers for visitors. It's recommended to bring your own food to have a picnic as the area around the beach is mostly residential. A couple of hop-on hop-off bus itineraries service Glyfada, but you can also get here easily by riding public transport from the city. – Tripadvisor

Athens was hot so we decided to head to the beach. Took the tram to this beach and would recommend you try somewhere else. It was basically rocks and pebbles. No restaurants, no bathrooms, and poor water quality. One saving grace was they had umbrellas you could use for free. They also had a guy going around selling water and beer so we were able to make a couple hours out of it. Do some research and see if there’s a better beach before coming here

Lovely beach, busy! Sun beds & parasols we saw ranged from 15-20 euros. This is a sand beach. The water is clear, and there’s the occasional fish. The water gets deep but at a reasonable pace. Most waves we have seen so far in the island!

Less frequent than other beaches in my opinion. Fine (but hot) sands plan tap, can deep, about 15/30€ per deckchair depending on where you go. Very nice and beautiful setting, I recommend for chill

A dirty beach with lots of stones and not much sand. You can get there from Athens using public transportation (tram or buses), but, if there are any issues (strike, construction, loss of power, etc) , make sure you have the public transportation detailed map or Internet access - We could not go to it the first time we attempted due to tram constructions (we waited for the tram more than an hour since it was not really any announcement in the Syntagma Square Tram Stop), and , the second time, we almost got lost on our way to Glyfada, after the tram power lines broke (half way somewhere around Edem) and the bus we were told that goes to Glyfada did not go there. The beach is not pretty enough to worth the hassle to get to it and back.

It took us around 50 minutes to get here on the tram from Syntagma Square. The journey was interesting as we got to see other neighbourhoods in Athens. The weather was unusually warm for early January & we sat on a fairly clean beach for a couple of hours before wandering into Glyfada for coffee & food. As city beaches go, it was good for a day trip.

I realy enjoyed this beach for the morning swim, empty and easy to enter in the sea. Nice swim, not too deep. Free shade and even shower. Was just a few minutes from the hotel. Get crowdy during the day but by end of day perfect to swim around 19 when the sun is not so hot.

One of the few free beaches in the area, free umbrella, free showers. You need wet shoes as the beach is shingle and the sea very pebbly. But that's half the fun; we enjoyed many hours of pebble balancing contests! Pretty clean beach and warm clear waters with waves. Probably not suitable for those with young children, the strength of the waves is noticeable and it gets deep quicker than in other beaches on the same stretch of coast.

This beach is quite good. But some greek people are racist. As an asian people they do racism to us. One of my friend wear hijab. We already keep our distance like 3 meters away from one to another. But they told us to go away. But when white people come near them. They didnt do the same thing. The should be good to tourist. We spent our money here and it help their country to develop.

Be aware that there are 2 beaches named Glyfada. One is quite dirty with cigarettes everywhere and bags and the other I did not end up visiting. The general advice I received from locals is that the further you go from Athens, the better the beaches. The suggestion was to visit beaches from Voula and beyond.

Very breezy beach with white sand and long waves that we enjoyed! Equipped with refreshment points and market... beautiful king sice beds! Here too there are wasps ready to attack you as soon as you eat 😅
