The Plaza Mayor de Trujillo is certainly the most memorable of this city.
It is particularly beautiful with the whole of surrounding buildings and palaces.
The sight really reminded me of an Italian city rather than a Spanish one.
The dominant image of Francisco Pizarro, the elevated church and its terrace, some very beautiful Palacios and the adjacent restaurants are certainly no strangers to this.

Central focal and gathering point in the old town with numerous restaurants, shops, and bars located in the archways of the buildings bordering the square. There are several medieval palaces on the plaza as well as a large church, a statue of Juan Pizarro and a large fountain in the center. The tourist info office is located here but there hours of operation are sporadic. They have a very good tourist map of the old town that you will find very useful when navigating the maze of narrow streets.

The Plaza is a very historic area with many restaurants and shops. It is a wide open area where children can play while you enjoy dining and drinking while viewing the historic buildings surrounding the Plaza. The church is a historic building that’s over 500 years old. We stayed at a hotel that is preserved 100% outside yet totally modern inside.

Fantastic example of medieval Spanish architecture. With a superb statue of the conqueror Francisco Pizarro (a native of the town and discoverer of Peru), the church of San Martín de Tours, the courthouse... so many things to see in one place! Many places to eat.

My guide described the plaza as one of the finest in Spain, but sadly the effect was spoiled by the tat shops and touristy restaurants. Nice space though, and the nice way to enter the Old Town through the Arco de la Estrella.

One of the authentic places of Old Spain can still be experienced in Extremadura from whence came the majority of explorers of the New World, America. Trujillo is a small town in the mountains apart from well trodden highways with a huge central square in its center. Francisco Pizarro, conquered of Peru, looms large on his horse.

In all directions there is something to look at; from the huge statue of the conquistador of Peru to the old medieval buildings around. The church had a stork nesting in the belltower shared with nesting Lesser Kestrels! Restaurants served good food and wine at very low/reasonable prices -an unusual feature in a south European town square. A lovely traditional and unspoilt place.

Plaza Mayor de Trujillo is a beautiful town square, lined with well-kept historical buildings, and places to eat and drink. The atmosphere in the evening is very relaxed - would recommend.

This was an experience and one we would definitely like to repeat! A great atmosphere in the plaza, able to sample cheeses (after purchasing tasting tickets), mostly local but one cheese producer from Portugal. Everyone thoroughly enjoying themselves and yes, some cheese has come back to the UK! The swifts were "screaming" around the classic Spanish buildings, the White Storks nesting on any available tall structure - the history oozes from the buildings here!

We did a couple of hours stopover en route from Cáceres to Córdoba. Plaza Mayor, the main square, is a pretty lively place - plenty of opportunities to take photos and people-watch. Most of the eating places and attractions are clustered around here. The famous Castillo de Trujillo, which made an appearance in Game of Thrones as Casterly Rock, is just a short 5 to 10 minutes walk away.
