When you drive into Trujillo, you have no inclination that there exists the most wonderful historical centre. A must visit. Simply superb.

Although obviously a tourist stop, this is not obvious nor intrusive. The town exudes ambiance, particularly on a warm September evening

Trujillo is the cradle of Spanish conquistadors, including Francisco Pizarro and Francisco de Orellana, The best way to enjoy this historic town is sitting down for a coffee at one of the coffee shops on the Plaza Mayor and feel surrounded by history. Amazing!

Off the beaten track for English tourists, but this is where many of the South American conquistadors like Francisco Pizarro (1471–1541) hailed from. Loads of history here and loads of value for money restaurants. Parking is free, mostly in side streets south of the town.
