We visited as a group of 13 on a stag party to watch a La Liga game vs Malaga and had a great time, tourists should buy a special package via the club which includes a stadium tour and the staff are great. Local supporters were fantastic and we even made the local news with out singing and dancing, so as long as people behave you'll have a great time!

A must see if you are a football fan, especially that it is gonna be destroyed quite soon.. Truly wonderful stadium, and with the tour you will also see the press conference room and the changing room. Totally worth it!

A beautiful stadium full of character, sadly no longer in use due to Atletico Madrid moving to a new stadium near the airport.

My wife and I attended an Atletico Madrid match on a recent vacation to Spain. We were shocked at the poor condition of the stadium. The insides were covered with graffiti, including some Nazi symbols. The bathrooms were in terrible shape, the concessions were pretty much non-existent, and the seats looked like they hadn't been cleaned ever. The team shop only had XS size t-shirts, the one on the mannequin was a size L but I was told they wouldn't sell it to me. I don't know where the money from our 40 euro tickets went, but it wasn't into keeping up the stadium.

I visited this stadium the day before the final of the "Copa del Rey". It has a great charm! My advice is to visit it before it is replaced with the new stadium of Atletico Madrid in a couple of years. It also has a nice museum, not as big as the Santiago Bernabeu, but it sure is worth a visit! If you have the Madrid card the admission is free. Enjoy!

It is always a good idea to watch a local soccer game, especially one of Athletico in Estadio Vicente Calderon. The museum is not really a great experience, but the bar in stadium is.

The stadium is just by the river and easy to reach by bus, metro or rail. The museum is open for visitors during the day but guided tours happen only at certain times. The fee is 10€ and includes the museum visit and tour itself. The guide translates from spanish to english and the tour lasts around 45 minutes. You see the pitch, press room, changing room, managers box and get to walk through the tunnel. It's an informative guide and plenty of opportunity for photos.

Tour with Elaina of Vicente Calderon stadium lasted an hour, got to go pitch side, changing rooms & sit in directors chairs. Have to be patient as first says stuff in Spanish then into English. Very knowledgable about the history of the club and we used the same ticket as we used for the match a few days ago.

Visited Madrid the weekend 16th and 17th of May with the intention of watching a game. Couldn't have timed it better when I realized that Barca where in town and as the last weeks before the trip went by Barca could clinch the title if they won.

Purchased tickets directly from the clubs website ( can just print your tickets out at home) please note unlike English football prices vary A LOT depending on the opposition. Ground easy to find with a few metro stops nearby (each side of the river) we got there a few hours before and the area was already busy. We went into the clubs sports bar which seemed to be open for anyone (strange system of paying at one area and taking your ticket to the bar) plenty of space to sit eat and drink and you can visit the club museum for an extra fee.
We purchased tickets for the north stand behind one goal, the ultras sit in the south so it makes for a great sight ( all bouncing, singing at scarve waving) the area we were in tended to have a lot of neutrals & Barca fans (wouldn't get that in England)

Stadium is fantastic, old but steeped in history and tradition, all concrete etc but give me a ground like this any day over the new style English bowl identikit lego stadiums. Athletico are moving soon so if you get a chance next season to visit do before it's too late. Crowd was a sell out and Athletico are very vocal, more so possibly then Real or Barca, shame they didn't score as having seen the celebrations on TV I really wanted to witness their goal celebrations in the flesh but.....I did see Messi score to win La Liga, can't have everything.

We went to watch the champions league fixture against Bayer Leverkusen. It was a real thriller, ending in a close win for the home team on penalties. Greatest atmosphere i've experienced in a football game, with much chanting and emotion.

It was overall a spectacular exprience, and i strongly recommend it for 'los que gustan del fútbol de emoción'.
