Okay, so it's not the massive "Meteor Crater" near Winsow Arizona. However this is a great local place to take your kids so they can learn about meteors and meteor crater formation. It's only about 10' deep now, but at one time it was about...More

They have a small museum, which is free entrance, as i said small but very informative after leaving the place you will have the need to look for more craters around the country. The crater itself is kind of loosing due too natural facts as, dirt,...More

50,000 + years ago this would have been more impressive as the Texas wind has mostly filled in the crater over the years. They do have some good information here but it does not take long to read it all.

We went there out of curiosity and hopefully to have a short hike. It was a very very short hike but could be educational for kids. The crater was 50,000 years old and it's already filled up. Museum is also small but have some exhibits...More

We drove out to see the crater only you can't really see it any more because it has filled in over the decades with silt & dirt. It would've more impressive & interesting if they would excavate it. The tourist information center had some good...More

Just a very interesting place to get to see the crater and also learn a bit about space. Enjoyed the museum and would recommend going early or later in the day - very hot during the day.

It was pretty cool to walk through a meteor crater but the museum wasn't anything great and the worker pointed out that they closed in 15 min so if we were doing the crater trail we better go. Probably wouldn't go again but it was...More

This place pales in comparison to Meteor Crater in Arizona, but it's a good solid second-place for meteorite museums, and very accessible if you're going along I-20 between Midland/Odessa and Carlsbad Caverns or El Paso. The crater itself is underwhelming - only 60 yards across...More

If you're planning to see the impact of a meteor from long ago, this is the place to come. Even though the impact has been filled in through tye years, the astronomical indentation is still clear and the magnitude of the impact evident. Just a...More

As far as I know, the center is open from 1 to 5 on Sundays. However, Google Odessa meteor crater and it should give you the phone number for The Visitor Center to verify.
