It's just a simple marker, but it represents a time when this town came together to help a nation mourn for the loss of seven brave astronauts. Worth walking the block or so off the main street if you're strolling around anyway. Search the address:...More

This memorial stone is difficult to find but if you go to the Milam Lodge, on 129 S Fredonia St, Nacodoches, the memorial plaque is just on the right side of the lodge.

It took me so long to find the plaque. I walked and walked and then drove but couldn't find it. I knew it was by the Masonic hall but that didn't help me. Finally I clicked on the website where the information is on here...More

Time has dulled my memory of the spacecraft accident where it broke up on re-entry and the entire crew was lost. This is just a marker but is worth a look. It is located near a bank where large pieces of the spacecraft fell

This is more of a plaque as opposed to an actual debris site. I would have thought there would be an actual memorial at the actual place of impact of the debris. At least the Masons erected this. I had forgotten that debris had fallen...More

A chill creeps over you as you read and remember the Columbia. Over 1200 pieces fell in this area. There is a medallion embedded in the asphalt not far from the memorial placard where a piece of debris as big as a car hood fell,...More

This is a reminder of the horrific tragedy from Columbia. It sits right next to the Masonic lodge in historic Nacogdoches.

I understand most of the reviews state that it is nothing spectacular but I beg to differ. Seven lives were lost and these lives were heroes who died over East Texas. As far as I know, Nacogdoches is the only place in this region that...More

It was nice of them to put it up. If you are walking by on the city walking tour, it is worth a look.

I had seen this on roadside attractions. There are two sites here, one is in the middle of the driveway, the bank workers didn't even know about it, the other is a plaque for the crew. Worth driving by and seeing.
