Mustang Island State Park is on a barrier island off the Texas coast. It's easily accessible through Corpus Christi (highway) or through Port Aransas (5 minute ferry ride at no charge). The park has 48 sites with water and electricity, as well as some primitive sites on the beach. In early March, during our visit, the primitive sites were closed... More

Nothing fancy physically about this place, but we really enjoyed the food and attention from the proprietor. Excellent sandwiches and homemade desserts. Located within 2 blocks of ferry to mainland.

We loved our beach vacation here. Park hosts and rangers were super helpful and friendly. Children rode their bikes all over the campground and the beach. Clean bathroom facilities. Beach was quiet and not crowded. Only possible negative was the beach had some trash, but that's to be expected with the gulf commercial activity. Camped here as a family and... More

We camped at Mustang Island State Park in June 2016 in our pop up camper. The camping area is quite small, there are not many sites. The sites are basically 2 rows with a parking/road in between. They are quite small. It was also VERY windy at the sites. I guess some people knew about this already and had tarps... More

Like other reviewers have mentioned, this is parking lot type camping. The sites are super close together and there is no privacy. Many sites end up being like buddy sites where your outdoor living area is somewhat shared with a neighbor. We were very blessed to get the best site at the park which is site #48. That site is... Very nice park. Great restrooms. Clean beach. Pass required. Depending on time of year great for shelling. Lots of pretty birds. Great for long beach walks.

I guess we were ok with the drive to the park. Was a cold windy day so a drive was nice. Drove on the beach watched the waves. The park rangers were very nice and informative.
