The sign is funny... says Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center and Refuse site. There were a variety of birds and a large alligator to view. It was a short walk and accessible to all. Don't miss this site if you are in the area!

Small but excellent birding opportunity for close up views. While you are there be sure to drive over to Charlie's Pasture.

I visit this at least 2 times a week during a one month stay. 0730-0900 and 1630-1800 during the month of February offer best light for photography and the wildlife is busy doing errands :)

Lots of birds and good viewing. Alligators can be viewed. Recommended for quiet families as noise can frighten the wildlife which are close. Bring your binoculars and plan to spend time just watching and looking along the reeds and waterline.

Very limited parking by the water treatment plant. Good signs as you are entering showing the different birds you may see. Make sure you take you binoculars. There is a boardwalk and viewing tower. Most of the people seem to be respectful and keep the noise at a low level. The birds seem to be use to the visitors and... More

Had an awesome time. We saw alligators in their natural habitat. The birds were gorgeous and fun to watch. Got lots of pictures.

Even though I got to Port A a lot this was my first visit. Very nice board walk and lots of water fowl. Be forewarned that there are a lot of folks who go to take pictures and will block the board walk for their activity. Over all a good place to view the back bay of South Texas beach... More

Beautiful area with an OK walkway. I appreciated the bird information they have by the entrance and how you can note what you have seen for migrating birds.

Park next to the sewage treatment plant, hold your nose, and hard towards the boardwalk. Once on the boardwalk then slow down and be still (just like a heron). Be sure to bring your binoculars and spotting scope if you have them. Could use a few more identification placards scattered along the boardwalk. In addition to several different herons, coots,... I happen to love nature so every visit to Port Aransas we definitely make time to stop at the birding Center. every time we go we see something new but it's always a treat to see the huge alligators, every visit we've made we've always seen them and we had them swim under the Boardwalk. It's a really cool site.... More
