You can see the entire South Padre Island from atop this historic lighthouse, first lit in 1853. A replica of the lighthouse keeper's cottage is on the grounds.

A nice chance to see history (of the old light house) and its nice views of the surrounding area; bay and gulf. The railing on the balcony level is soon to be under reconstruction so you can only go all the way up to the...More

This is the 1st lighthouse we have ever visited, so it was worth stopping to see & taking the time to do. It is so hot at the top that you can't stay but a minute before leaving. We snapped a few pictures & left....More

It is worth it to go all the way up in the lighthouse. There is an admission to get in (very cheap). When you get to the top, the views are really breathtaking, you can take the best pics of port Isabel, the bridge and...More

It was neat to see, but we paid more than we would have like to walk up a few flights of stairs only to reach suffocating heat at the top. We could only stay at the top for a minute or so because of how...More

We enjoyed it, it's a beautiful place, but it cost 9 dollars to climb 75 stairs to the top and the balcony was broken.. but it is definitely a must see for anyone driving thru..Beautiful and the lady was so nice and informative

I highly recommend going on a cloudy day because the climb can get very hot. Portions of the stairs are much steeper than expected. Bring cash for the tickets.

Impressive place. Everyone but me climbed to the top for a really cool view. The stairs a small and spiraled with some going straight up the wall so not everyone can handle the climb up, I stayed down but everyone else loved it.
