Ila Loetscher, the "Turtle Lady of South Padre Island", originally formed our organization to save the Kemp's ridley sea turtle in 1977. Now we are a sea turtle hospital with a mission to rehabilitate and release any injured sea turtles, increase awareness concerning their safety and habitat, and assist with conservation efforts for all sea turtle species. For a small rescue, this place is phenomenal! Lots of different sea turtles and everyone was very knowledgeable! We all loved it!!!!

We spend most winters in the Valley, Always have to go to see the Turtles. We got there a little lake this year but always take time to see all the rehab. turtles

Many of these turtle have fought brave battles to survive, and it is great to see mankind stepping up to help. Well worth a stop - you could chose not to donate anything, but after reading the stories of each turtle posted by their pool...More

It was great seeing the sea turtles and their stories on how they were found and what they were recovering from! Everyone enjoyed it and it wasn't super crowded!

This was a wonderful, indoor activity for all ages. Their #1 priority is the turtles and they passionately share their knowledge and insight with the visitors through "Turtle Talks" and other scheduled activities. The work that is done there is absolutely amazing. Turtles that have been injured are rescued and healed at the center, then released back to the ocean. The work done at the center is great. If you are a nature lover I would highly recommend...More
