Ila Loetscher, the "Turtle Lady of South Padre Island", originally formed our organization to save the Kemp's ridley sea turtle in 1977. Now we are a sea turtle hospital with a mission to rehabilitate and release any injured sea turtles, increase awareness concerning their safety and habitat, and assist with conservation efforts for all sea turtle species. We are funded by donations, grants and gift shop proceeds--

For rehabilitated sea turtle and hatchling release text message notifications, please see our website membership page. See you at Sea Turtle, Inc.!

It was great to see what they are doing at Sea Turtle, Inc. Sea Turtles are beautiful creatures and they are doing a great job taking care of them and letting us see that. The workers were very friendly and shared with us about each turtles but weren't pushy. We got to see feeding time and that was neat too.... More

What a treasure! Adults and children alike will love this place! The rescued turtles are incredible to watch and they are also a reminder that we have a responsibility to take care of our planet. Donations accepted and encouraged. Staff is super friendly and will answer any question. There is a small gift shop with decent prices. All proceeds go... More

What a sweet place. This is a small but very big hearted rescue center for sea turtles. The staff and volunteers search for turtles that are in need of rescuing. They bring them to the center and treat them. This can be in the form of medicine, surgery, or entrapment. As the turtles recover they release them to the waters.... More

Have been to this place numerous times and always take our out of state visitors there. Never get tired of seeing Allison swim with her prosthesis. They do valuable rescue work here - especially when the weather turns cold and the turtles need to be brought in and warmed up.

Grandkids loved seeing the turtle exhibits, Very educational. Nice gift shop. Donation only, I don't think it's mandatory. Also have a turtle hospital. They also are expanding, I think completion is in Aug. They could use donations. Every time we've gone, it's been a treat.

We have been going to Sea Turtle Inc for years. We love visiting all the tanks seeing what turtles are still there and which ones have been rehabbed and released. This year we were lucky enough to watch 2 early morning hatchling releases. Definitely worth the early morning alarm!
