Skating on pebbles with broken laces.........
Dec. 2020 • Family
Very easy to get tickets and rentals. The Safety Attendant was great. BUT..... the rental skates were as old as dirt, torn up, broken laces, and I've skated on ponds that were smoother. This ice was like skating on pebbles! Huge divets, large frozen mounds, and just plain scary to skate on, and I grew up skating, so it's not like I don't have experience. It was not a horrible day spent with the Granddaughters, but it wasn't as wonderful as it could have been.

Welcoming the winter season with traditional ice skating
Nov. 2020
With our reservations made in advance, checkin was a breeze for our skate on the first Monday of the season. It was not crowded. There were noticeable measures in place to manage germs due to COVID-19 (large hand sanitizer bottles at each table, table surfaces being sprayed down, plexiglass, etc.). The family had a great time and the price is reasonable for what turns out to be about 1.5 hours of skating ($13.50 for admission and skate rental). Note that new this year due to the need for reservations, is the $1 admission fee even for observers. Concessions are fairly priced in that they are far below movie theater concession pricing but more than the grocery store.
Our only complaint was how speedily we were ushered out at the end of our skate session due to the next session starting soon. I appreciate the need for turnover but one of the staff members was a bit curt with us (and we were actively readying for departure; not lollygagging). Overall, I recommend the experience for a nice community outing for kids, families, and couples alike.

Lost ice time due to rink opening later than it should
Nov. 2020
A big come down for me since I am use to Olympic size rinks. I was there early Saturday and on first session. It opens at 10am but the rink management does not realize that it take 15 minutes for skaters to put on skates so skaters lost 15 minutes of ice time. The ice was fine since it was the first session, not chopped up. I suggest that rink management open 15 minutes early on the first session so that skates have time to put on skates.

My Daughter's Birthday
Dec. 2017 • Family
My daughter wanted to go ice skating as her Birthday Experience (in place of a party). The Woodlands Ice Rink seemed less like a hockey arena than some other places in a 2 hour radius from us. We went two weekends before Christmas, so with the mall traffic, we fully expected parking to be an issue, which it was. We decided to park in the mall parking lot in between the mall and the ice rink so that we only had to worry about parking once. My only real complaint would be the amount of time it took from when we got inside to actually be ice skating on the ice. We stood in one line to buy tickets and then waited again to get skates. There was no system or line to get the skates, we just stood there until someone helped us (sort of like a bar...everyone up at the counter hoping to be the next one asked to be helped). There are tables that can be rented, but if you forget to do that like we did, it's hard to feel like you have "your" spot. They have lockers for rent, but we didn't notice that until after we were already skating.

Overall, it was fun and we'd go again, but it DEFINITELY feels like it's run by teenagers.

A good option
Dec. 2015
For many years the ice rink has been a good option to have fun, specially with the kids. They also have an area with tables and chairs where you can sit to rest or even celebrate a birthday or other milestone. As far as I know, the Ice Rink will be getting a new facility by The Pavilion and will be a permanent location to go ice skating and not a seasonal like it has been until now.

Not much to say except it is nice to be able to skate close to home. The prices are okay. The place is managed well.

Too warm and meltly for this Minnesotan
Dec. 2014 • Family
We did stop by thinking it might be fun as Skate rental was available, but our MN Friend who lives here told us to expect watery ice and big crowds. He was right on both counts.
It was amusing to this life long Minnesotan (who grew up with a private large ice rink in her Backyard), to see so many people who couldn't Ice skate! One or two, were pretty good, but the majority, while I give them an A for Effort, needed a LOT more practice... The Soupy Ice surely didn't help and the ice was pretty chunked up... Guess it may be tough to keep the Tent cold enough to keep the Ice hard and smooth, but that's what has to be done if you are gonna be able to skate well.... Like I said, A for effort...

A great attraction for the kids and even the grownups. The place is clean, well equipped and the staff are quite congenial.

Awesome Fun
Nov. 2013 • Friends
I went with co-workers local & visiting from AL. This was my second time going and each time I have had a blast. I can't ice skate at all but it was a lot of fun trying. Defiantly worth going at least once.

Great for Kids and New Skaters
Dec. 2013 • Family
The ice rink isnt fancy, but offers you everything you need. I was most impressed with the options for kids (and adults) that dont know how to ice skate. They had these walkers you could hold on to while skating the ice. What a great idea! My young kids were new to this but they took off quickly with the help of the "ice walker".
