Great Live Music Venue but That's All

My wife and I and a couple of friends attended the Restless Heart concert at the Dosey Doe Big Barn and they were absolutely phenomenal. The seats we were seated at were basically front row and the sound was one of the best concerts I've been to. The acoustics and volume was perfect. The Dosey Doe Big Barn is an awesome place to hear an artist perform live.

My disappointment in this experience was in the food. When the food was served it wasn't hot, for that matter I wouldn't have even called it warm. As far as quality goes, I've had worse, but for the price one would expect better. Service was a little slow, but wasn't horrible, again I've had worse.

If you want an awesome live concert experience, this is definitely the place. My advice is to eat before you get there and save the money one would pay for premium seating that gets you a meal. There's not a bad seat in the house so it isn't necessary to purchase premium seating tickets . The main show usually starts at 8:30 pm.

Ten Years and Still Fabulous

Dosey Doe Big Barn is my go-to place to take out of town guests on Sunday brunch or a hot date out with my honey. I love the fact we can have a delicious dinner and enjoy a live show at one venue. No running from restaurant to music venue - no wasting time or adding stress. Very unique place and well-worth the value. The Sunday brunch offers live musical no charge - just order a coffee, sit back and enjoy if you don't want a full meal.

What has happened to this place?

Been coming here for years. The music aspect is great. Ambiance, account ices and carrier selection.

The food end of the deal is terrible. Institutional at BEST. Service is snail pace as in wine came after we finished a very, very average meal. Unless your taste runs to chicken fried steak food is cheaply prepared, generally cold and you would never go to this place if was a stand alone resturant.

That said the music carries the day. They used to pride themselves as a really nice resturant in addition to a great venue. At this point only the music is worth the effort.

Dinner, live performances, a fun spot
Oct. 2014 • Couples
We went with six friends to see an Elvis Presley impersonator at the Big Barn. This is a restored ancient barn with a fun atmosphere, casual to dressy casual, good entertainment, and a decent dinner. I had meatloaf and mashed potatoes, my husband had lamb chops and a vegetable with molten chocolate cake for dessert. Homemade-meal kind of good.

The stage is close so that the performer can interact with the audience. "Elvis" made the ladies giggle when he presented them with red scarves. The waiters did a great job keeping water and drink orders coming to long tables of guests. A fun experience with a group or with family. The location is on the south-bound frontage road along I-45 between Woodlands Parkway and Rayford-Sawdust Rd. Reservations. Reasonable prices.

Best Music Venue

My wife and I discovered Dosey Doe last year. I had heard about it but had never been to a performance. It is about an hour drive from our house, so it is a commitment to go there. Our first concert was Christopher Cross. We loved the place. After that concert, we went to 16 more last year and have been to 4 or 5 this year. They have all kinds of music from Texas Country to rock & roll, blues, folk, just name it and someone will be there. It is a small venue 200-250 and they serve a very good meal with the concert. During week days they feature a lot of acoustical performances, my favorite was Cory Morrow. You make a $50 deposit which is refundable 24 hours before. It is not a cheap place, if you get the best seats, you are looking at $138 per ticket. That includes the meal and a seat that sometimes almost puts you on the stage. I actually sang with Marilyn McCoo, at least she put the mic in my face and I managed a few words. Great place. Smoke free. Check out the website You will find someone you like.
