Friends and I took a tour of Caddo Lake on one of the small, shallow boats. It was wonderful! Our guide was local person whose family had been in the area for generations. He told us stories that were entertaining and informative while moving through the bayous. We saw beautiful birds and plant life, and heard about the invasive plants that are causing issues in the environment. He gave us the opportunity to touch the flowers, and lily pads, and the Spanish moss hanging from the trees. He cut the motor so we could experience the silence on the lake. If you have always lived in a city, this was experience that you will not forget. I would highly recommend this tour service, operated out of the Johnson's Ranch Marina in Uncertain, TX

we went last tuesday on a boat tour with chaz. This was such a great tour and guide we plan to come back soon. Chaz is very friendly and knows the area very well. he got us a great view of a 6ft gator sunning on a log. This is your go to place if you want any tour or area information. We felt welcome and were not treated like a tourist.

My wife ad I showed up reservations and Paul was kind enough to come out to give us a tour. Paul is very knowledgeable of the lake’s history and ecosystem. He provided a trove of information about the lake wildlife. Always aware of the lake environment, we experienced two different osprey sightings. One was diving for a fish. Very cool!

We had 2 women and 3 teenage boys in our party. They recommended two separate boats - one for the boys and one for the girls. While us girls got to see the flowers and learn about the history of the lake, the boys got a little more adventurous and got into remote areas of the lake. Both Angie and Jeremy were excellent guides and were very knowledgeable about the area. This is a great way to see the lake and learn about it.

This is a wonderful tour of Caddo Lake. The godevil boats can take you into areas that the larger boats cannot. Interesting tour- I have done it 3 times now at different times of the year and absolutely loved each tour! Caddo lake is mysterious looking and oh so beautiful! Godevil boats are comfortable to sit and ride in. Chaz is a great guide and the last time we went, Billy Carter's son Will was our guide and he was top notch too. the guides are knowledgeable, friendly and professional. If you want to experience Caddo lake, this is the way to go! Reasonably priced, we do the hour tour.

Howdy All,
My Wonderful Wife and I just returned from 2 very restful and peaceful days in Uncertain Texas. We had two main things that we wanted to see and do while we were there,
one was the Graceful Ghost Steamboat Tour, and the other was a personal tour of Caddo Lake. I have to say we found the perfect way to see all that Caddo Lake had to offer and were led through the mysterious wonderland of Cypress Trees, Spanish Moss, an abundance of different Wildlife, and Water lilies by Angie of Billy Carter's Go-Devil Tours.
Angie met us at the Dock at Johnson Ranch there in Uncertain in the Go-Devil boat, the engine set up is made in Louisiana and was the perfect type of motor and prop for all the different water levels that she took us through, it can go in shallow water that most other boats can't get into, even as little as 3-4"
You could tell Angies' love and passion for the Lake, the area, and the rich History. We learned that she's lived on the lake for almost 30 years, and you could see that twinkle in her eyes as she told about all the different events that had taken place on and around the lake and it's History, She was also very knowledgeable about all the different type of vegetation, flowers, and the different species of Wildlife and Birds.
This was so peaceful and enjoyable, we never rushed or felt rushed, there was always time for that next picture, as we are avid/rabid amateur Photographers. Angie seemed to know all the great shots, and approached at the right angle for good lighting and composition.
I have to say, we were a little sad when the two hours was over and it was time to head back to Johnson's Ranch Dock, but we've already talked about going back, and taking another and longer tour with Angie and Go-Devil will be our first stop.
This is the perfect way to see this wonderful and beautiful Lake, the only Natural Lake in
Texas.
I highly recommend this Tour if your in the Area, or if not in the area, it's certainly worth the trip to take this wonderful adventure.
Kindest Regards,
Craig and Karen

Don't be put off by the ramshackle appearance of this place or its dock. These are wonderful people and are extremely helpful. They also know their way around Caddo Lake. We had taken a pontoon trip of Caddo Lake with a different company earlier in the day, but were a bit disappointed (review listed elsewhere). So, mid-afternoon we called Billy Carter and asked if he could arrange an evening trip for four adults, from about 7-9PM. He told us he certainly could, though there would have to be an up-charge since we'd be going out after normal hours ($30 per adult for two hours on the lake). We showed up at the appointed time and met with Billy, who was just as nice as he could be. He couldn't give us the tour personally that evening, as his wife had just had chemo that day but he had his friend/associate, Lonnie, assigned to take us out. Lonnie loaded us up, in a bass-boat with four swivel seats and we took off. Lonnie spent the next two-plus hours taking us into and out of the swaps and bayous, taking us out to mid-lake and into places barely wide enough to get the boat through. We saw blue herons, white herons, egrets, wood ducks, cormorants, and a lot more, and we weren't even looking for birds. The primeval looking cypress trees with their draping of Spanish moss, and the narrow, slow channels were just mesmerizing. Lonnie took us in every little channel we could get into, looking for scenery and wildlife. We didn't see any alligators, as the water was unusually high while we were there, putting their usual basking places underwater, but we saw many, many magnificent sights. As the sun went down, the pink sky and clouds added to the beauty of the bayous. Lonnie was wonderful. He gave us history and wildlife information when it was appropriate, but let us enjoy the silence when we wanted to feel the sense of the place. He was an excellent pilot and guide. He also, though we didn't know it at the time, made a few short videos of us during the tour which he forwarded to us. This trip was the highlight of our trip to the area. Altogether, it was a fantastic tour and I plan to repeat it when we next get to Caddo Lake.

We didn't make reservations but just showed up at Johnson's Ranch hoping for a ride. My wife and I are amateur photographers, and we were there when the light was right. The lady said they were booked for the next two days. But Billy was bringing in a couple of fishermen, and she said she'd ask him if he wanted to eat his lunch then take us for a quick tour. Billy said, "Lunch is no big deal," and motioned us aboard. As we pulled out he asked, "scenery or critters?" We said, "both." And both we got -- an alligator floating within a long arm's reach, an osprey lifting from its nest, and the crowning jewel, Dick and Charlie's Tea Room. The short ride lasted over an hour and we got a ton of good photos. We're planning to go back for a longer visit. When we do we'll stay in one of the cottages Billy owns. He's a class act.

Our guide was Angie, and she knows everything about the lake. Plants, animals, ecosystems, and she makes it simple and relevant. I didn’t understand the name of the tour, but it’s the name of the special motor that allows the small boat to navigate shallow water. My favorite aspect of the tour was the history and geography that Angie shared. This experience opens the door to a very interesting place on our planet.

We chose this as our first adventure of the trip. After traveling the day before, we wanted something local and low key. We were staying in Jefferson, so Uncertain is about a 20 minute drive. We also chose the 10:00 am tour since it was late June and hot and humid later in the day. They offer a night time tour which sounded cool, but we wanted to see Caddo Lake (the largest natural lake in Texas) and the water lillies open, which means a day time tour. We had the boat to ourselves, so we got a real personalized tour. We were able to ask questions and go on side trips since it was just us. The tour guide was great and he operated safely the entire time. He explained the history of the area having grown up there, pointed out wildlife, including alligator nests, and old trapper cabins and duck blinds no longer in use. It was a neat little trip-lasts a little over an hour and is only $25 each i think. Go do it. You'll enjoy it

We are thinking of doing this in June. We know it's going to be warm and humid but how bad were the mosquitos, etc? Did you stay overnight and if so where? Thanks!
Written May 8, 2016
It is a swamp atmosphere so there are a lot of mosquitoes naturally. We used backwoods type Mosquito spray with DEET and we're fine. All the places in that are are rental cabins and houses, but book ahead as they all book out fast. We stayed at the Spatterdock guest houses and loved it.
