It's like many of the sights in Utah and surrounding states in that if you give it time learning about how bridges were formed and understanding the surrounding nature, the visit becomes a real pleasure.

The one way road around the Monument has various stop off points, with overlooks and trails into the vallies for a closer look at each bridge. What you do depends on the time available, but for me the hike to Sipapu Bridge is well worth it.

Park fee is due at the Visitor Center. The staff there are knowledgeable and friendly. The gift store is well stock with a nice variety. There is also a theater presentation. The road is one way for an 8 mile loop. The main attractions are the three natural bridges. You can spend a full day and hike between them all or drive to viewpoints and hike down and back. We chose the later. Signs say the hike down and back for the first two is one to two hours. I would disagree and suggest its a bit longer unless you are a 20-something. First up - Sipapu Bridge - after you've walked a bit there is a view before you start descending further down. Further down (there are stairs and a ladder) you will find yourselves with another level view point which is beautiful. To you right the trail continues and you will see three rails to hold onto and another ladder and another rope area further in the distance. At this point we felt it was the best picture available. In my opinion going further down you would not be able to get the entire bridge in another pic and the back side if you went that far would be in shade. So - we happily started back up - knowing coming back from the bottom would have taken a lot longer. Our round trip was 90 minutes - going back up will be much slower.
The second bridge - Kachina - in my opinion - is best to get a pic from the viewpoint and not venture down. During our trip although sunny there had been a flash flood and some people coming up said they had to wait 1 1/2 hours for the water to recede. This is steeper both down and up and little shade. The bridge is not as photogenic from below as a large tree blacks a good pic. Coming back up was a huff and puff and make sure you wear sun screen if you go. We got to the river where the flood was and again it took about 1 1/2 hours round trip.
The third bridge - Owachomo - was easily the best. The hike round trip is only about 45 minutes and much easier and the bridge was definitely our favorite and the easiest to go under.
If you go - remember that hiking down and back all three will be a physical toll....so my suggestion is hike the first and third and just get pics of the second from its viewpoint.

Incredibly beautiful National Monument. A driving loop takes you around to overlooks where you can view huge arch’s (bridges) which were formed over the eons by the forces of nature. Each overlook is a short walk from where you pull off the road. There are trails for the more adventurous (and who are in better shape) who want to get a close look at these marvels. When you enter the park, there is a nice clean visitor center with clean restrooms. Be sure to take water with you. Unlike the national parks we have found national monuments to be much less visited, but not necessarily less amazing, and this monument was no exception.

There is a 9 mile loop that goes one-way to each of the bridge viewpoints and a few trailheads. If you don’t have time or the desire to hike, you can spend about an hour and drive the loop to the viewpoints and gets some great pics.

You can drive the scenic loop road around the park and see the arches from scenic viewpoints. We hiked all 3 arches. The first hike is the most challenging with a couple of ladders and rails, but worth it. The second was the newest, also interesting. The third is the oldest and may fall first. All 3 hikes are worth it. Wish we had more time to hike the trial that runs between the arches. Road is well maintained. Outdoor toilet at arch #2. Pleasant surprise. We met people from all over the country, and from out of the country, while hiking the trails.

Drive the scenic road around Natural Bridges national monument its great. Its $20 a car to enter which I think is a bit steep. Stop off at the view points for the the bridges. Longer walks available if your that way inclined. It worth visiting if your in the area to see what nature can do over 100's of years.
