While not the same grandeur as Bryce, Kodachrome has its own beautiful views and offers opportunities to explore away from the crowds of the national parks.

Just left the Grand Canyon and pulled in here but due to the lack of interesting scenery we left almost immediately.

We camped at arch group camp site in this park. Easy access to bathroom and fire pit. Multiple flat and shaded areas to camp and good privacy. Busy season, I would recommend to make reservations.

Among the many beautiful places along Scenic Highway 12 is Kodachrome State Park. We stopped here to break up the drive and to see some of the 70 stone spires for which the park is famous. There is an $8 entry fee, if you want...More

Drove around on gravel/dirt roads and checked out views. Lots of photo ops. No need to wander from car. If you can great but you can see from car. State park so national park card no good still have to pay. $8 not bad

Did the Grand Parade Trail which is mostly flat with some crossing of dry river beds. Takes about an hour. Interesting red rocks and you see a couple of the stone towers. You see a few more by driving up to the end of the...More

I stopped by. I pretty much looked around in my Jeep. I did do a short hike to see an arch in the park. But, I was short on time so I did not do any hikes. I am sure if I were to hike....More

I am in love with Kodachrome Basin State Park! We wanted to visit the big parks in southern Utah and chose this state park as our base because it offered more amenities than the nearby national parks and is more dog friendly than those are....More

Spent and afternoon visiting the Kodachrome Basin State Park. It's a very small park, but literally 9 miles (by paved road) outside of the small town of Cannonville. Entrance fee was $8, but there are many hikes to enjoy while here. We did Angels Palace,...More

We will be driving along Hwy 12 in October from Capitol Reef to Zion. We were at Bryce many years ago. Should we either take a short side trip to Kodachrome Basin or one to Bryce?

I would have to recommend Bryce if you only have time for one of the two parks. The scenery at Bryce is of a unique nature and on a scale that is hard to match. Bryce is also well suited to driving through in that there is... More

Does anyone know if the room has a hair dryer? I was hoping I could get one to borrow in our room. We will be flying in and have limited space. Thanks

Hi, I stayed one night last April. It is a camp - not a motel. Tents and RV's. Electric outlet in public facilities only. Scenery pays for everything.

Hi, I have no idea, we were there only for a few hours, but did not see any dogs. This is a Utah State Park, maybe their website has that info. Leo
