This visiting center is a must for all travelers! Loaded with tons of information while looking over part of the flaming gorge that split due to geological changes.

While they were able to show me some of the hikes in the area (and maybe photocopy one or two), I felt a bit underwhelmed. Nothing much going on with all access to the dam features out of bounds.

They had no tours because "the contract was still out for bid". The lady at the counter must not have gotten much training as she was not well informed about the dam at all. She could not get the movies to work "the remote must...More

Price: Free Hours: 9 AM - 5 PM Season: Open daily, April 15th - October 15th We were looking forward to the dam tour. It doesn’t say on TripAdvisor but they have an open season!! They are NOT open year around.

The visitor center is really small. Gives a very short overview of the history and construction of the dam and a relief map showing where the power goes. You can also get a tour of the dam itself. That's always pretty cool in my book.

The dam itself is impressive but stop into the visitor center. They have a large relief map of the area and it gives you a great perspective and insights of other areas to visit.

We went camping and stopped at the Dam Visitor Center. It is a beautiful place. You do have to walk a little bit and go up some stairs (although they do have an elevator), but if you have small children you should definitely visit. At...More

If you have time to explore the roads around Red Canyon and Flaming Gorge areas please make an effort to do so as the views are quite stunning. The dam is on the south side of the reservoir & the road is surrounded by forest.

We will be visiting Sunday September 4, 2016. What are the hours of the tours? We would like to make certain we are there at the right time.
