Absolutely stunning views - definitely one of my favorite hikes I have ever done! It was as also very strenuous, with hot temperatures, little shade and traveling through deep sand by totally worth it!! 🎉🎉🎉

The Wave. That's all everyone talks about. People go back day after day after day to get The Wave tickets. Ok, - I can't compare, I didn't go back and haven't seen The Wave. But we did rent a 4-wheel drive to get out to...More

Be cautious, the rocks on which you will be walking are heat sinks. The temperature on the rocks are about 20 degrees warmer than ambient. The scenery is phenomenal. The BLM does have a rover who checks for permits if you are going to the...More

South coyote buttes are amazing. The Wave gets all the hype, but you won't feel like you missed out if you "settle" for a permit to south coyote.

You need a permit but it is well worth it. We had a great time exploring the area and enjoying our very own private adventure, since there really was no one there, we had the place to ourselves. The last mile on the sand road...More

If you don't win the Wave lottery, definitely take the South Coyote Buttes tour. It is awesome and after seeing both, I can tell you it won't disappoint. We actually enjoyed South Coyote a little more than the Wave...although we're very honored and happy to...More

We planned for a eight days stay in Kanab to try our luck on ‘The Wave’ and ‘South Coyote Buttes’ while doing other hikes and tours with Kanab Tour Company. Laura was our stand-in for the lottery and got us the permits to the South...More

Superb scenery! If you will be in the area, try to get permits. This place will blow your mind away. If you drive yourself, the roads are very rocky and sandy so be prepared with enough supplies if you get stuck and have to spend...More

First of all, contrary to what some reviewers wrote, South Coyote Buttes do NOT include the Wave, which is located in the North Coyote Buttes. You do need a permit for South Coyote Buttes as well but they're easier to come by. However, what makes...More

I cannot offer assistance on where to unhook. I will advise, DO NOT attempt to pull the trailer down the 8 mile dirt road. I would contact the Kanab Visitor's Center on areas for trailers.

1.Does anyone know what the views are like if you just drive the dirt road BLM 1079 to white pocket then onto paw hole? 2.Can you see any of the scenic colored areas from the road? Didnt want to have to try and get a permit, just will not go on trails if I can get great pictures of the area, but will if necessary. I'm not about the hiking, but about more about picture taking. If not I dont have a problem with and easy to moderate hike as long as I can take my time. 3. We have 4WD Toyota Tundra and were planning on driving the entire BLM1079 road loop fromWilderness Area past White Pocket then past Paw Hole straight until it meets up wtih House Rock Road as we are heading to Big Water after. Is this possible or even worth it? I am traveling from upstate NY right on the Canadian border so will never be back again as its a 5 day drive just to get here with the camper so I want to make it worth it. Since my cahnces of getting to" the wave" are almost zero everything I read said the scenery in this area was also very colorful and beautiful. Any help, suggestions, and information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, MP

First, the wave lottery in kanab varies from day to day, it's not impossible, some days are better than others. Yes, you can see some things from the road, but the really beauty you have to hike it. Most of the hiking up to... More
