Old Paria is east of Kanab but the main road to the old town of Paria is right on highway US89. This is a ghost town but it shows the hardships that settlers had to put up with when they settled the southwestern deserts.

WE only passed by, but the sun was setting, and oh, my goodness, the beautiful colors just took my breath away. Next time, we would like to hike in.

We have a Honda Odyssey so we did not expect to get down this road for more than a mile Turns out, it was a great road for 4.6 miles ! So we got to see the painted cliffs and they were amazing. Did not...More

I'd read reviews that said late day lighting was the best t time to visit this area and they were right on! The setting sun lit up the multi colored cliffs. Road was dry when we went in and was not an issue, we did...More

We asked Dreamland if there was anything that was just a short drive from Kanab and our guide suggested this place. I am so glad we took it. It has different scenery from the other places we had seen near there - it actually reminded...More

I feel a must see for all the color on the cliffs! In rainy or winter months, a 4-wheel drive will be necessary. We always take our guest to see Paria, even more lovely near sunset.

We drove back from the road about 5 miles on a dirt road. There were some gullies once we got close to the end,so, if you are in a regular car, watch out for those and try to choose another way around. There is not...More

We had no idea vandals burned the town down in 2006! What a disappointment it was to discover this. There are 2 picnic tables, a grill plus toilet facilities. The tables are in the sun so we picnicked in the car due to the intense...More

The colors of the badlands-type hills are beyond beautiful. I parked at the picnic area; and explored that area. Then walked on a poor dirt road into an area of white-rock hills and saw bighorn sheep. Then walked the main road past the cemetery to...More

We had seen pictures online before and decided we had to find this place. It is an absolutely beautiful and unique place. The colors are so vivid. And the history is very interesting. We plan on visiting here again someday.
