First, we didn't know about the rock, but traveling in Utah, we stopped a few times at Mexican Hut and had lunch in Old Bridge Grill. About a month ago being in Utah (my favorite state) again, visiting the Dead Horse Point State Park and...More

Heading south on US Hwy 163 in Utah glimpses of what will be seen arise in the distance. We were just headed on a day trip to explore the region. The vistas unfolding were never-ending. There in the distance, I could make out a much...More

Sitting high and proud north of town, it was interesting to see it high on the rock. Also enjoyed the little Mexican Hats that kids(?) built in the car park. We wondered at the amazing forces and combination of other elements that might have resulted...More

We passed the Mexican Hat on our way to Monument Valley. It can be seen from the road, but there is a dirt road you can drive on to get a closer look and take a few photos. Not a spot worth spending a lot...More

Obviously the name explains the reason for stopping, its a 10 min stop at best and you can take a side road to view the 'hat' purchased on a rock much closer. Good picture opportunity.

When you're visiting Monument Valley, you'll see formations that put this to shame. But it's still worth a snapshot or two. Nothing else worth viewing surrounds it so click and move on.

We stopped by Mexican Hat on our way to Monument Valley. This is a pretty cool formation which looks like it might topple at any point, there are plenty of sign posts and the best view is via a good dirt track of the main...More

It is a cool formation to see. If you are near I would take the dirt road toward it and get a little it closer to it for better pictures and views. I wouldn't go too far out of my way to see it though....More

We visited the rock formation as we passed by on our way to Monument Valley. There are signs to indicate the formation is coming up. A lot of people stayed out by the road to take pictures, but we drove on the dirt road to...More

Hi, we were in a rented Toyota Camry. We had no problems at all. We even walked right up to it and left the car in the road. There's little to no traffic on the dirt road. We did not drive on out the dirt road because... More
