Cool rock formation to view along US 163. Although there is a dirt road you can take to get you closer to it, we took some great photos right from the road. There is a pull off for you to safely get a photo and...More

On our East to West Coast trip of the USA from the UK, we spent time at The View Hotel in Monument Valley, and this was only a short drive away. Certainly worth seeing, and the colours of the backdrop are wonderful. I can see...More

The drive through the red desert area is spectacular. If you're driving to Moab from Salt Lake City or anywhere north, this is a must see. It does look like a hat and I would guess it won't be there forever since it's a rock...More

While the view is good from the highway, take the road off the highway a get a closer look. It is easy to see how it got its name. Fascinating rock formation. Don't miss it!

It really does look like a Mexican hat and you can go down a dirt road close to it to get very close to the rock.

One of several reviews related to a 20 day Grand Circle tour. Hey, it's right there. Why not stop and check it out? (Seems to have been our motto this trip...). Don't let the gravel road scare you, make your way to the parking area...More

Interesting geology! We took some of the dirt roads a little way to get a bit closer and take some photos. There are also some good geocaches in the area to help you learn about how it formed. You can view from the highway if...More

It's easy for a driver to miss the Mexican Hat rock while dealing with the San Juan river bridge, the sharp turn and traffic in town, and the climb up the other side. To passengers, though, it is easy to see how the rock and...More

You can see it from the highway but it appears much smaller than we expected. Maybe if you park and hike closer it would be better.

It’s clearly visible from the main road but you can drive in. It’s ok but noting to go out of your way for.

Hi, we were in a rented Toyota Camry. We had no problems at all. We even walked right up to it and left the car in the road. There's little to no traffic on the dirt road. We did not drive on out the dirt road because... More
