This hike was 4 miles long. It was very hot with no shade. Go prepared -- hat, sunscreen, lots of water. It ended up with a strenuous climb, so take a hiking stick if you need one.

The trail makes a beautiful loop around West Mitten, providing for exceptional photography. You get very close to the monument. It is worth the effort. However be ready for a somewhat difficult return when you start coming out of the valley. The loose sand means...More

Relatively easy hike, mostly level other than the hike up back to the trailhead on very sandy trail. No shade so come prepared. Otherwise, a beautiful hike so close to the mittens.

This is a great way to start the day. After watching the sun come up over Monument Valley, get dressed and do this 4 mile hike! It's a little bit of elevation loss at the very beginning, which means an elevation gain at the end....More

This is not a long hike, but the track goes over sand & up some steep slopes. You walk into the valley & around the West Mitten. Take plenty of water & beware sand storms.

I ran this trail in the morning and could not get over the beauty! I stopped for several pictures so it took about 45 minutes. The trail is easy to follow and not technical. The last half mile has soft sand that is difficult, but...More
