My 7 year old son was smitten by this museum. He loved watching the old John Wayne films and learning about how the local Navajo people lived. Also interesting was the upstairs part of the museum which remained as it was when the original owners lived there. I can't imagine how isolated it must have been all those years ago.... More

I enjoyed seeing the trading post store and the living quarters of the Gouldings. I also liked the John Ford movies that were playing as we read about the movies that were filmed in the area.

We thought this little museum was interesting and it probably meant more to us as John Wayne/ Western movie fans than it would say for our kids. It was certainly worth a quick visit for us. There was even a John Wayne movie playing in the back room that you could sit on a bench and watch.

The museum was interesting but very small. However it gave a very good historical insight into the growth in popularity of tourists for the region.

The museum is a faithful view of how the Gouldings lived in the early 20c. We found the adjacent gift shop to have a great selection of souvenirs, all at much more reasonable prices than the nearby Monument Valley Visitor Center. We can really recommend a visit here.

Visiting the Goulding's Trading Post will provide you a bit of history for the Monument Valley area. In addition to the Navajo tribal history, it was interesting to see all of the movies that have been filmed in area. The museum is free to visit, but you can make a donation if you desire.

Rather dated museum with dated collection if western artifacts from original motel owners. A bit interesting but kids will be bored-ho, hum no interactivity at all.
