Discover Park City's history at the Park City Museum on Historic Main...

Discover Park City's history at the Park City Museum on Historic Main Street. Prospectors discovered silver in 1868 in the area that soon after became Park City. Mine owners made fortunes, while thousands of miners simply made a living. After silver prices declined, Park City reinvented itself as a ski resort town. Interactive displays tell the Park City story in an engaging manner. Fun for the whole family! Open 7 days a week (Mon-Sat 10-7, Sun 12-6).

We stopped in here on a lazy day in Park City. It cost $10 to get in, and was a great little museum with lots of information about silver mining and the history of Park City. It is very interactive, and while we didn't have kids with us, I think kids would love it.

We went here on a rainy day. We have visited a number of museums this past year and found the Park City Museum to be one of the best local museums. We liked the movie on the Skier's Subway and how they once used a mining train to go to the ski lifts. We liked the special exhibit on circuses.... More

Lots of hands-on and interactive displays of this town's amazing history: its founding, silver mining, almost total destruction by fire and amazing rebirth as a ski resort. Kids will love the basement jail cells!

Cute museum. Mostly self guided. They did a good job of sharing the history. They have a the actually jail cell that was a little scary for the 5 year old in our group. It is $10 which was maybe a little pricey for the short time we spent there but overall was something nice we could all enjoy.

A cool dark oasis on a hot late summer day, the museum is staffed with helpful docents, well laid out with display cases and video clips and audio files. There is a miniature silver mine which is fascinating to examine. Three stories high, there is an elevator for those whose knees don't like stairs: the top floor tells the story... More

So enjoyed this hour of my life, learning about Park City's beginnings and the incredible mining work, horrific fire, civil (jail ) and religious respect and so much more. Well laid out, amazing displays. Well done! Very enjoyable gift shop too.

Stopped here to learn about the history of Park City. I liked the exhibits, they were extremely well-done but the videos could have been a little more comfortable. The ski one was okay but the first video in the train was really hard to watch sitting sideways. I loved the interactive stories in the Jail with the wanted posters.
