In town on business, after a very long day went on a great hike. What a gem!!! The rock formations are amazing. Trail is well maintained and not difficult. Came back down the trail in time to watch the sun setting over the lake.

Mostly single pitch, quartzite in the lower canyon, limestone in the upper. There are a few multipitch routes on the northern walls but care needs to be taken with loose rock. The canyon does get hot still in September so you need to start early...More

Geologically significant and scenic trail in a spectacular canyon. Rock climbers as well as hikers and trail runners abound. Water and restrooms at the trail head.

The high canyon walls makes for cooler temps all year around. Usually heavier traffic. Ignore the rather dry start to the trail and continue a bit further to where the canyon walls and river create a cooler and delightful atmosphere. Keep up the incline and...More

If you love to camp in deep snow, go ahead. Rangers will never catch you. May 27th is the "snow free" guaranteed date for camping. Where are you from? Not used to snowy mountains with avalanche danger?
