Converted from the Central Vermont Railway to a bike path in the 1970s, this easy trail crosses through beaches and parks and offers great views of Lake Champlain, the Adirondacks and the city.

We began in South Hero where we parked the car. It's about a mile to the bike ferry. The ferry was great. We rode about 8 miles from the ferry to Leddy Park. The park is just ok, but we stopped there to swim, bathroom...More

Even under construction, the path is very accessible for the whole family. Plenty of places to rent bikes if you are visiting from out of town. The Lake Champlain views make the ride exceptional.

This is a great bike path. It's well-maintained and a nice ride. There is a long causeway out onto Lake Champlain that is particularly unique and beautiful.

This is a GORGEUS path that starts on the lakefront of downtown and makes its way all the way up to South Hero - over 20 miles round trip to do the entire thing! The best part is the Colchester Causeway; you're on a simple...More

The bike path is easy, fun, and a must-do in Burlington. Honestly, it is the best way to experience the lake and get a great work-out in the meantime. Don't fret the temporary detour. You basically go down Main Street for half a mile and...More

There was construction on the path when we were there, so the ride was not as enjoyable as usual, but it otherwise makes for a very pleasant ride. Do ride all the way to the Colchester Causeway and along the Causeway (at least until the...More

We rented bikes at Local Motion and headed off on the trail. It's a flat ride. Once you get on the causeway you will need USD8 per person for a round trip ticket on the bike ferry to take you to South Hero. Not much...More

Riding a bike around Burlington is probably the best way to see it. The bike path ties it all together with the parks and the lake.

There are a number of good bike shops right up the street from the path. North Star Sports, at 100 Main St., had excellent service when we went there.

Hi! Well, it's hard to know, w/o knowing the age of your kids and how fast/slow you bike. You should know that the bike path goes by North Beach (with toilets, a snack bar (in season), a nice playground and a lovely sandy... More
