Walked around down here a couple of days I was in Burlington. There's a lot of places to sit and hang out. The swings are great. Plenty of places to stop into. The crepe place down there had live music. The aquarium is right there....More

Visited waterfront park to view Lake Champlain. It was a sunny day so the views were beautiful. Nice place to walk around and many photo opportunities. Parking is tough, and paying is strictly enforced. Make sure to get parking pass as soon as you park....More

Festivals are booked at the waterfront throughout the summer, so check the events calendar for the Chamber before you go. Parking can be a challenge, but if you are willing to walk a little bit, use one of downtown Burlington's many garages and stroll down...More

This is a beautiful waterfront path that runs ~7 miles long shared by pedestrians and cyclists. There are swings covered by trees and benches facing the water. Great people watching place. Lots of people walking their dogs. There is also a skateboarding park.

This is such an amazing park. Not only are the views amazing, the people watching is interesting as well. I really liked the swinging benches by the dock where we sat and just watched the clouds float by and the birds do their thing.

The best sunsets anywhere happen at this park over Lake Champlain. There's always something happening here. The bar Splash! is usually hopping. Summer concerts in the park. Bikers, walkers, tourists and locals, wonderful boats, great people to meet. I love this place!

This a nice relaxing area very close to all the restaurants and downtown Burlington, a perfect walk on a sunny afternoon with a great view of the lake and the mountains!

The view of the water was phenomenal. Nice place to go to view the water and just relax. You can watch the boats go across the river.

Super place to stroll, bike, skateboard, row, or just sit in the rocking swing benches and take in the view. There is one of the nicest skateboard parks I've ever seen and a large bark park just down the bike path. It's a really nice...More

My first visit to Burlington is coming up. I have heard the Waterfront is THE PLACE to go when visiting the city. Is Waterfront park a good place to start?

Yes, but also make sure to visit the Church St Marketplace too.
Are the photos of the boardwalk with the pretty lamp posts and the lighthouse in the distance likely taken from Waterfront Park? If so, would it be a long walk from the parking area to where this photo was taken? And is it possible to just drive through the park? We will not be able to spend a lot of time there, and will be towing a small cargo trailer.

I agree with all the other folks who are answering this question. The Waterfront walk is very simple and can be completed in easily 1 hour, if you took your time and take photos. I did not see any pull along campers or such... More
is there a beach area for kids to get in the water?

No. Not at all. I would not allow my children to get that far down on the bank. There is an "Ethan Allen" boat ride. And a museum of sorts. But really it is a casual walking spot with plenty of grass for a picnic.
