- Patricia3 contributionsNo Supermarket = HassleThe only grocery store nearby was flooded. You have to order groceries online. It takes 24 to 48 hours. This is a major hassle for a family. It is also expensive because we are going to the expensive restaurant. I would wait until next year to visit this resort.Visited January 2024Travelled with familyWritten January 3, 2024
- Kevin T16 contributionsFamily Trip...Top Notch. Our 1st family trip to Okemo and it didn't disappoint! Even with the little bit of natural snow the crew did a great job of blowing snow and keeping the trails well taken care of. The kids did the Ripper Mountain Coster and had a blast! Staff was very friendly from start to finish....don't forget about asking for the military discount.Visited January 2024Travelled with familyWritten January 6, 2024
- Amanda M9 contributionsFirst Timers find a new love thanks to OkemWe cannot thank Okem enough for a fantastic weekend! We travelled as a family with our two children. All four of us were completely new to skiing and knew nothing, but wanted to try! We booked a private lesson. Before the lesson, I struggled to get my ski boots on. Within minutes, Tom, a ski instructor came over. He helped me rearrange my attire, pushed on and buckled my boots, which completely helped turn my mood around. Frustrations had set in before he came. He was a treasure and heaven sent! Zane was our instructor for our lesson. He made it so our whole day went smoothly! We did the 3 hour lesson. In those 3 hours, he taught all 4 of us how to ski. We were all, our 5 year old included, skiing down the hill safely and happily independently. He was so kind, patient, and an excellent teacher! The staff at Okem are amazing! They are the reason we had such a wonderful trip and first time skiing! I highly recommend Okem Mountain to anyone thinking about a ski trip!Visited January 2024Travelled with familyWritten January 7, 2024
- Karyn MNew Haven, Connecticut255 contributionsBecome a disappointment - 0 Services!Zero customer service now that it is corporate run. No longer are there ski ambassadors to help with equipment, questions, etc. Today I asked over 10 instructors about which lifts were open and zero-not one was sure or could give me a definitive answer. There is no shuttle to the parking lot from the base. I was told they don’t have drivers for the parking lot shuttles. Slopes are not groomed well. Just disappointing. Most restaurants in town have closed down which is unfortunate. They are lucky to get their money up front with ski passes, so there is not much to complain about once you’ve paid for a pass.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten January 21, 2024
- FVidPort Jefferson, New York87 contributionsNot as nice as remembered, but ok.Went back after several years to Okemo to ski mid week for 2 days. Had checked for weather ahead of time so avoided the previous days of rain/thaw, but still the conditions were tough and grooming difficult, second days was quite good and being mid-week, not crowded. I did notice that in contrast to earlier times that few if none people outside the slop to ask for information. Ate twice in the base lodge pub for lunch. The food and service was fine, but prices certainly in the upper end of the north east ski areas( 10.50 for a draught beer).Visited February 2024Travelled soloWritten February 15, 2024
- JTLNorth Lawrence, Ohio10 contributions1st Time to OkemoI decided to do a solo to end the season, so I drive from Ohio to Okemo April 4-5. Had never been there, always heard good things and wanted to try it! Fortunately I got there early in the morning! so parking was fine (I wouldn't want to get there after 10:30am because you will be doing some walking!). The runs were nicely groomed, had runs for all levels, employees were friendly. The lodge was (what I have become accustomed too) typical Vail Resort-ish....i.e. very basic, expensive food, etc. Overall impression....just OK.Visited April 2024Travelled soloWritten April 19, 2024

We stayed with 3 families in a Solitude Village slope side condo for 3 nights and registered our kids (all under 10 years old) into ski school for 2 days of skiing. One day at Clock Tower Base and the other at Jackson Gore Base. Our plan was to ski down with kids and drop them off at the ski school at 10AM and then pick them up after ski school and ski back to the condo. This way we wouldn't have to drive and spend some time with kids on the slopes. I guess our plan wasn't part of Okemo's idea of slope side premium condos rentals. While dropping off wasn't an issue and we skied down to the base and dropped kids off at 10AM, picking up was a whole other story. Kids are returned at 3:30 (if on time) and most lifts close at 3:45, doesn't matter if you are staying slope side or not. So if you think you can get up the mountain in time to ski back down to your slope side condo, you are wrong. So they told us to take the shuttle back to our condo. After waiting for a shuttle outside for 30 minutes, the bus driver didn't want to take us to our condo. He told us he wasn't supposed drive up the hill to the condos in Solitude Village. What?!?! So if your entire family is skiing and you don't have a car parked in one of the parking lots, good luck getting back to your condo. If you are planing on staying in slope side condos and skiing back with kids after ski school, don't even bother. You better off renting a much cheaper property close to the mountain and driving to the base.
On top of everything they are charging $220 for ski school for one day and you have to bring kids geared up to the area by the ski lifts. I've been to few mountains and usually I would drop kids off with their gear inside the lodge and they would gear them up for you. I didn't mind this much becasue we were skiing out from the condo but why charge more money and provide less service just to make it convinient for them? So if you are driving kids to ski school that's another thing to concider, there is no easy and quick way to drop your kids off, unless they are less than 6 years old.
And to add, the whole feel of the mountain and how they treat you in general, just didn't feel right. They jacked up the prices substantially after they were bought out by Vail but their service has reduced significantly. I will be staying away from this mountain in the near future.

Great trails. This is where it stops.
Outdated room, bathroom so tiny you had to keep the door open to brush your teeth! Water heater died.
Lady at check in wouldn’t answer questions about my prepaid ski days as it was a mess she said
Dirty carpets.
Old chairlifts are dangerous, me and my kids fell off, super fast and dangerous
Lift destroyed my calf as it squeezed it upon hopping on!
For the money we paid they severely need to step it up
Positive was awesome trails to ski
Too bad.

How I miss the Okemo of just a few years ago. Okemo has had lines in the past on big weekends and at certain times of the day but nothing compared to this year. I understand that due to Covid many chairs go up at less than capacity. With the Epic pass reservation system it would appear that there has been very little done to reduce the number of people at the mountain. The day after the December snow storm they struggled to open additional terrain and lifts to service the number of skiers eager to ski the fresh powder. This weekend we made one of the first chairs on Sunday and enjoyed fresh tracks but by 9am we were in 20 minute lift lines and by 10am we were in 30 minute lift lines. It makes the experience less than enjoyable especially when we have skied at Killington and have enjoyed a completely different experience in terms of crowds and lift lines. The table reservation was better than anticipated. I will not be getting an Epic pass again next year.

Our family just returned from skiing Okemo and we had a great time. We were worried about the long lift lines but we did not experience any. One of my kids took a lesson and it was well worth it. The biggest challenge was navigating the new Covid restrictions which no one informed us before we arrived. There is no lodge to warm up in. If you want time indoors you must reserve a table the morning of at 7 am. The reservation is only good for 30 minutes. The food is limited and mostly prepackaged. The skiing was excellent and everyone working there were doing their best to guide everyone through the new environment. We only found very friendly and helpful staff working on the mountain. Highly recommend for a place to ski.

Tried to call ahead to see how much a half day was. Not able to, have to find out at ticket booth.
Upon going through an extensive process just to purchase a ticket, we find out the half day price is $100. A full day is $120. This deceptive tactic will make me sure to not return.

We had prepaid for daycare for our son for a weekend of skiing when he came down with pink eye. I called immediately to inform the daycare and was within hours of the refund cancellation policy. The operator was rigid and made no exception for the circumstance. I would have taken a credit or partial refund even. Beware- there is no flexibility on the cancellation, which I think breeds bad will and assures we are less likely to try the service or mountain again.

We went to the resort in mid January 2024 to ski for four days with our two children who are seven and five. We stayed at the Jackson Gore - which cost in excess of $1000 a night. All in, we spent upward of $6000 over four days / nights. We booked our children into the ski school for four days. Our experience with the ski school was possibly the worst experience that I’ve ever had with a company.
When we arrived on Wednesday night at Okemo, we became concerned that the weather was going to be extremely cold on Saturday. It was forecast to be below zero degrees wind chill and in fact did not get above the single digits without wind chill all day.
In light of this, we decided to cancel ski school for Saturday and did not even have our kids go out that day. We attempted to call the ski school starting at 8 am on Thursday morning and no one answered. We ultimately decided to just let them know in person when dropping our kids off at 9 am. The ski school was a mad house when we dropped our children off - so rather than sit in line, we first got our kids to their instructors and then returned to the line at the desk.
By the time that we got to the desk (after waiting about 10 mins) it was 9:20. When we told the manager (Anthony) who was at the desk that we needed to cancel because it would be too cold out on Saturday, he refused to cancel the lesson, claiming that he could not do so because of a 48 hour cancellation policy that we missed by 20 mins. We tried to get him to be reasonable and he would not be so.
My wife ultimately spoke to resort services who credited then charge and was shocked by Anthony’s position. We thought this resolved things until weeks later a new charge appeared on a different credit card of mine (which was linked to my epic account) that reversed the initial credit. We can only conclude that someone went into the system and reversed the credit that guest services provided by charging a separate credit card. To me it is crazy that an employee would do this and go to these lengths. Additionally, Anthony’s attitude and hostility to both my wife and me has left us unwilling to return to Okemo.
We have since followed up several times with the report and been told that we will receive a call back to work this out. Despite being promised this has never happened.
Ski school is supposed to be a positive experience for kids. Trying to force very young kids outside in zero degree weather to make a profit is disgusting. We won’t be back and I would caution anyone to be very careful in making a reservation for a lesson here.
I also would not put any credit cards on your epic account, as it may come back to bite you.

Gorgeous places to hike off season! Highly recommend the lift up the mountain, hike to the tower, food or beverage, then take the lift back down. Smooth ride, friendly staff. Safe-distancing, masks, hand sanitizer, and more to accommodate our current COVID pandemic.

I hadn’t skied here in years but decided to visit again after Okemo was added to the Epic pass. I recall enjoying my visit years ago, but also thinking that the mountain was overwhelmingly intermediate. A wonderful place for learners but very little challenging terrain for experienced skiers and riders.
Fast forward to 2021. Vail has gobbled up Okemo, along with some other ski areas, in what many might consider a monopoly type coup. While one would hope that this would benefit these ski areas as Vail has deep pockets, there have been few noticeable improvements to most of these resorts thus far. What skiers may notice is a general hike in prices. While the Epic pass is a great value on the surface, those who don’t pack a lunch will feel the pinch of corporate greed in the mountain food and drink establishments and through “VIP” reserved parking. The affordability of the season pass, along with proximity to New York and New Jersey have brought increased city traffic to the area, both on and off the slopes. Along with this increased patronage, we noticed a significant change in manners and courtesy amongst skiers and riders. More poor skiers on terrain that is far beyond their ability level, less attention to the skier/rider safety code, and seemingly no mountain staff taking steps to curtail irresponsible and potentially dangerous behavior. In these regards Okemo is starting to seem like a resort that is more interested in generating revenue than in being a family friendly vacation destination. I can’t recall skiing anywhere in the northeast that has so many condos. It looks more like a community than a ski resort in many places. You’ll notice city attitude driving in Ludlow that wasn’t there a decade ago.
It’s not all bad though. While an experienced skier will probably only find a real challenge in the woods here, there is a lot of terrain to choose from (120 trails), and there are plenty of lifts, many high speed, with which to get around. The little town of Ludlow is quite charming too, with lots of eating and drinking options. The current pandemic has made this complicated right now, but overall this is a fun place to spend a day or two. I’d imagine weekends are madness here, so I’d stick to midweek for the best value.
Time will tell if Vail can or is willing to work out the kinks here. It’d be a shame to allow this place to become an overpriced parking lot like it’s sister mountain, Mount Snow.

Okemo mountain was extremely beautiful and had awesome trails. I was enjoying my experience overall until I reached a certain lift operator who seemed to be not having a great day. At first all I did was go under the rope of the lines because no one else was there and I thought I could just walk up. He then yelled at me telling me not to do it again. I thought of it as no big deal because I was in the wrong and i apologized but he seemed to just ignore me. I went on with my day not really thinking much of that encounter until I reached that lift again. This time I walked around the ropes. Even tho no one was there again. I get on the chairlift and start to ascend when the operator from behind me yells at me to put the bar down (I tend not to put the bar down cause I'm aware enough not to get close to the edge) I look back at him seeing that it was indeed the lift operator yelling at me. He then proceeds to say it's a safety requirement then calls me a dumbass. I believe this man just simply didnt like me because the people 2 chairs ahead of me didnt have their bar down and he didnt yell at them. And then people 3 chairs behind me didnt have their bar down either. This man really ruined my experience and I didnt really want to ski after that. I don't know if it's a safety requirement or not. I had gone most of the day without the bar down and most operators didnt seem to care. Either way it doesnt give this man the right to call me a dumbass. He overall kinda ruined my experience. But the mountain itself is really nice. So I recommend that everyone still experience okemo

I was thinking of coming up at end of March. Will we still be able to get some boarding and skiing in? I am used to mid Atlantic conditions and we usually close mid March so hoping that end of March in Vermont would still have most of resort open.

Which hotel or lodge is the best to stay, location wise, easy in and out. Would be great to not worry about driving. Going in a Thursday night for Friday ski.

We use AirBnb since we never had a bad experience plus having a car gives flexibility. For hotels I would use tripadvisor and expedia to get reviews.

First time going to Okemo and we are staying about a mile away.. Staying Wednesday through Friday.
1. We're driving up on Wednesday, is it worth it to go to the mountain and ski the after noon, 12:30-4? Planning to ski all day Thursday too and am wondering if it would be better to ski afternoon Wednesday or first half of Friday.
2. Where is the best place to park?
3. Which lodge is best for me to leave my bag, get boots on, etc?
Thank you,
Written February 12, 2019
I think that depends on weather and how you’re feeling after the drive. There are trade offs. Afternoon skiing can be warmer but the snow is better in the morning, etc. t would personally ski on Wednesday. There are two lodges - Clock Tower is the main one. There’s usually insufficient parking so you end up parking down the road and taking a shuttle bus. Jackson Gore has close in parking but is a smaller base area with fewer trails. If you’ve never been there Jackson Gore can be hard to find so map it carefully and even then you can miss the sign. You do not go up the mountain road to go Jackson Gore. Both have rentals so if you’re renting make sure you rent from the right one. If you don’t ski on Weds at least get your lift tickets - the lines in the morning can be longer. Both lodge areas have storage. Jackson Gore is more charming and also has the sledding and mountain coaster and ice skating rink if you’re interested in those. Clock tower has more of every thing and more trail access. Hope that helps.

We went recently on a Saturday and waited almost an hour at the end of the day to get the shuttle back down to the parking lot (blue). Apparently, the shuttle gets stuck in the same traffic jam related to the traffic jam on 103 with folks leaving Okemo and Killington.
Any tips on avoiding this problem? It was really a terrible way to end the day.
Written January 31, 2019
Will the resort be staffing up for the busy President's week in February? I see a lot of reviews saying they have been understaffed on busy days.

Hi, The day after Christmas until New Years 2019, we stayed at Bretton Woods, Mt. Washington, and found the snow to be very minimal and icy. It did not snow the entire time we were present.
Being that Okemo is substantially south (135 miles)
of Bretton Woods, I would think it would be very difficult to guarantee skiing from the ski-in, ski-out condos, and skiing in general.
I would appreciate anyone's input on these issues.
Thank you, Jean
Written January 4, 2019
Okemo is rated #1 in snow making and grooming. The only problem might be, weather dependent, Vermont ice. Otherwise a great beginner and intermediate mountain (suggest Jackson Gore for parking and possibly staying for ski-in-out) and also there are some excellent expert slopes. None as challenging as Killington and not as much terrain.

Are you allowed to bring in a lunch cooler? Where is the best place to set up base if we bring our own lunch? We are all good skiers and can handle black hills.
Thanks.
Written March 19, 2018
This has to be the best skiing in the country. My favorite was the summit cafe at the top of the mountain. You could possibly store your lunch in the lockers in the lower level of clock tower base. When you are ready to eat lunch, you could take your lunch via the lift up to summit cafe and set up shop there. After a short break, as I recall, there is a double or triple black diamond right when you get out of the summit cafe. I hope you enjoy!

Is there a lift or gondola that can take you to the top to enjoy the views if your not a skier/snowboarder?

A couple practical questions for day trippers.. Is there a drop off prior to parking? Is there a shuttle running as parking becomes satellite or is it all walkable especially after drop off? What's the lodge scene for bring your own food, typical rooms of tables, I think I saw there is a bag check so that is probably preferred way to store gear. Thanks!
Written February 14, 2018
There is a drop off zone, so if you are bringing the whole family, drop them near the lodge, then loop back and park the car. The shuttles run pretty late.
As for your bags, there are several options.
Main Lodge - you can put your bags on the floor, hang from hooks on the wall or they have a pay/bin area
Jackson Gore - has a no bag policy, bu they do have a free bag stow area that generally seems to have space
Lodge Scene - Apres ski is pretty packed, off hours, say 11:30 or 13:30 for lunch works very well

Have heard that parking is very difficult especially on the clock tower side. Is that true? What tips do you all have for parking, including paid options?
Written February 13, 2018
There are a couple of ways to deal with this;
1. Get there early or yes, you will end up down the hill and have to use the bus
2. Pay for premium parking, it's $25/day
3. drive a little further north on Rt 100 and park at Jackson Gore
