Everyone working there was super friendly and relaxed. The half hour tour was good for learning the history of the state house. The kids loved looking for fossils in the black marble floor tiles.

The golden dome seemed to be under renovation, but the capitol building is pretty nonetheless, and the grounds are meticulously maintained and lovely. It's easy to find and in a delightful part of quaint Montpelier.

This is one the smaller state houses in the nation, but this was a delightful with an intimate feel. The volunteer tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable. If you are a history buff, you will enjoy this visit.

Montpelier is very small and does have the character you'd expect. It's a nice change from many state capitols - it is safe.

We enjoyed visiting the VT Statehouse while the Legislature was in session. There were no metal detectors and no obvious security. We were able to wonder around the building and enjoyed seeing the numerous portraits of former governors and others including U.S. presidents Calvin Coolidge...More

The towns of Waterbury, Stowe and Quechee are nice small towns to visit that are close to Montpelier, if you have a couple or few days to enjoy Vermont.
