I have taught American History in school before and I learned many things that I did not know about the Revolution and about Vermont. If you are a history buff this is a great place to get to know the state of Vermont. You can cover it quickly or make a 1/2 day of it.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time in this museum. The displays are well done and give much information about the state, its people, industries, history, etc. I think we were inside a little over an hour, and if time allowed, we could have spent more time there. Well worth it, and very reasonably priced ($7, adult; $5, senior).

We entered the museum rather late in the day but the volunteer attendant was so friendly. She suggested that a visit normally takes about an hour. We toured what we could not wanting to stay past 4:00. If you enjoy history and the formative years of the state and it's culture please do visit.

We stopped here after visiting the State House. It's a small museum doesn't take long to visit. It was mostly geared toward kids, with lots of hands on displays. It looked like a place schools take field trips. It was still interesting but not a must see.

I enjoyed my visit to the Vermont Historical Society Museum. The price was reasonable at $5 for a senior. The museum was laid out in a way where it was relatively easy to find your way through it,. The displays did a good job of telling the story of Vermont's history. I found it to be a good way to... More

On the one hand, if you want to know something about the history of Vermont, this isn't a bad place to start. On the other hand, they've left so much out. The museum's assumption seems to be that all "Vermonters" came from Mass and NY stock of white anglos. That's true for a large share, but they completely miss the... More

Lots of history. Tour traces the area from the Native American to the present with everyone well represented. Very nice and helpful staff. Enjoyable place to visit.

I walked into this place trying to get out of the heat. I had about an hour to kill before a meeting, man was I surprised. This place is amazing I learned quite a bit of Vermont history an hour is not long enough. I had to leave for my meeting but I had to come back afterwards to finish... More
