While traveling in the area we decided to check out some of the wineries and were able to find First Colony. It is off Highway 20 and feels a bit out of the way, but is worth the effort to stop for wine tasting. The...More

This was our first stop on a day of wine tasting. We tried 9 wines, most of which we really enjoyed. The person hosting the wine tasting was very knowledgeable and helpful. The setting is lovely and there is a small selection of gifts and...More

We attended a private graduation party at first Colony. The location is easy to find and literally 15 mins from Monticello. The staff are very friendly and cordial. We have done wine tastings in Spain, France,Australia's Barossa and Hunter Valleys, but I would say this...More

Nice, relatively easy-to-find winery outside Charlottesville. Nice variety of wines to taste (and, of course, with the wife along) and select to purchase. Host Andrew was affable. A good stop for the wine lover.

This little place is semi "off the beaten path" with some of the traditional wine trails in Virginia. But make sure you put this place on your list. I am fortunate I live in the area and try to visit when I can. I cannot...More

We were doing 2 days of wine touring in Charlottesville and stopped in. Great wine and excellent staff. They also were dog friendly so we could bring our dogs with us.

Both red and white wines were amazing, especially the 2015 Lemberger and 2014 Claret. Sit back, relax and enjoy the unique thatch roof and rustic architure of this winery. Service was awesome even though it was very crowded.
