This course is nestled amongst the rolling hills of Albemarle County that Jefferson loved so much. Home of the UVA men’s and women’s golf teams, it is a very nice course with a reasonably difficult layout, especially on the back nine. On the “Plus” side- - Good course condition - Great greens both fast and with great traction for the... More

I was genuinely excited to play Birdwood. After finishing, I was really glad I was done and really disappointed I'd paid so much to play. The golf course tee-to-green is pretty good. Tee-to-green it's a decent layout, with the exception of the 11th hole, and is well manicured. However, the green complexes are awful. Slow, odd shaped greens, with lots... More

Playing Birdwood is always a treat - from the moment of arrival to the time of departure, the staff do all they can to make your visit enjoyable...while they can't lower your score on this challenge track of 18 holes, the provide a great setting to enjoy the golf that you'll experience. We had two foursomes meet at Birdwood for... More

I recently vacationed at the Boars head inn and took a day to go golfing. I was able to reserve a tee time for the following day. The experience was wonderful from the ability to choose from two different model sets of golf clubs, since I had not brought my clubs along, to the starter providing me with detailed descriptions... When I went to law school here, current UVA students could get a semester, all-you-can-play pass for $200. As a result, I played at least the front nine nearly every Monday through Thursday afternoon. I remain a surprisingly bad golfer despite all that practice. The front nine is an easy walk. The back nine is a hike with significant elevation... More

We stayed at The Boar's Head and thoroughly enjoyed this venue. The best fairways and greens we played in Virginia. The course is in excellent condition. Well organized and accommodating.

We did the stay and play package at the Boars Head Inn, which included a round at Birdwood. The Golf course is beautiful, well maintained and managed. Start times were on time and the marshalls were always available to keep things moving along. The course is challenging but would definitely recommend, I'm sure it is a wonderful to play in... More

Absolutely one of the nicest courses I have played. If you are looking for a trip to play golf this is it. Bent Grass tee boxes, fairways and greens. The greens must be close to a 13 but very receptive to approach shots.

My brother and I were in town for a holiday visit with our parents and decided to play golf since the weather was warm over the Christmas weekend. We called and easily got a tee time and a $45.00 winter weekend rate. They have a huge driving range that we put to good use. They also had a wonderful chipping... More

Birdwood is a fine course, but the back nine which winds into the uplands away from the highway is unmatched in Virginia. The golfer feels like he or she has gotten away from civilization as the holes play in varied directions with absolutely not house of OB. The island green is a highlight as are various other shots featuring change... More
