The University was designed by Thomas Jefferson and has been in operation since 1819. It has a nationally know Law School, Medical School and Graduate Business School. It is well known for the Rotunda and the lawn behind it where students and faculty live.

to see the brick buildings and to walk the Lawn bring alive the history of this university in the way Jefferson must have imagined.

A must see for on the Jeffersonian site tour. His influence is everywhere. Take the time to walk around the Rotunda (newly renovated), grounds, visit Special Collections and the Archives.

We were in Charlottesville and stopped on the campus. This is definitely an impressive campus and one that is enjoyable to walk around. The history of the place is impressive. We saw the room where Edger Allen Poe lived. This is worth the Stop.

Wanted to see the Rotunda, designed by Thomas Jefferson, after visiting Monticello. Great building! Beautiful scenic campus surrounding this area. We also stopped nearby for nice dinner.

Beautiful university! The tour lasted a couple of hours. We mainly saw outdoor areas. Luckily the weather was perfect and we really enjoyed the grounds!

Our friends brought us to the campus about 11 pm on the eve of graduation. There were about 7,000 folding chairs set up near the Rotunda in anticipation of the morning event. The next morning, we returned just after the main graduation ceremony and were...More

You do not need to make a reservation. You just need to show up at the gallery at the scheduled times. You can find the tour times and location on the college website.
