Saturday mornings draw a large crowd to the City Market on the east end of town. Tented vendors offer an interesting bevy of food options from fresh produce to bakery items to light meals to fortify the hungry or thirsty. Artisans add to the shopping mix with intriguing local art, jewelry, clothing and other creations. Friendly folks man the tents... More

What a wonderful market full of interesting vendors. Everything from yummy doughnuts, crab cakes, tacos, Jerk Chicken and Australian meat pies, to jewelry, art, organic dog treats, farm fresh veggies, and jams. Just a fun way to walk around and meet locals and vendors and hear their stories and explore their business.

Lots of parking in the area. Make sure your receipt is on your dashboard. You can eat breakfast and lunch here. Many options for your pallet. Lots of veggies, fruits, meat and fish to purchase. We purchased bread and cheese. Make sure you have a cooler wit you.

Our hotel sent us to the Blue Grass Cafe/Bakery for breakfast, but there was a one-hour wait for a table. Being impatient, we left and walked across the street to this cool-looking farmers' market. What a bonanza!!! Fruit and vegetables, of course... but coffee, pastries, kebabs, breakfast sandwiches, cheeses, sausages, SO MUCH FOOD. We split up and then compared notes... More

It was great to walk in and to see the variety of things being sold. My husband got a great piece of fish and we also found some yummy cheese. Highly recommend.

I love this city market! It has a nice array of vendors--produce, prepared food (Go hungry, as another reviewer suggested!), bread, preserves, artists (jewelry, ceramics, purses....) and so on. Parking is convenient as it is beside a parking lot and a garage. You can easily walk to the downtown mall and continue your shopping and grazing. I only get to... More

This is a fantastic farmers market! You could shop for almost all of your groceries here. They have fruit, vegetables, cheese, bread, desserts, drinks, and more. I enjoy going early in the morning to pick up coffee and breakfast (though there are lunch options as well). There are also fun crafts and jewelry for sale. I especially enjoy the stand... More

This is a charming city market with lots of treats to sample as well as some wonderful artisans. We tasted lots of free sa.mples which gave us a great idea what we wanted to buy. My boys loved the meat pies for breakfast. We also had some cool drinks. High topper tables for eating your meal. When we went, there... More

I love farmer's markets, especially to try new local foods and buy local produce. We were staying in Charlottesville for an event, so I convinced my husband to let us stop by the Charlottesville City Market on our way out of town the next morning. This market was so busy with people, everyone had brought baskets and reusable bags from... More

What a pleasure to have lucked into finding Charlottesville City Market. Canopy after canopy of foodie finds and interesting art fill the outside lot near the Downtown Mall. Tasty, sparkling Kombuchas (fermented teas); crispy, powdered beignets; a bounty of organic fruits and vegetables; and more delectable items than I could possibly list will entice you to sample and purchase until...
