We took our granddaughters to Chincoteague for the day during their March Spring Break. It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed it thoroughly. Our first stop was in the Visitors' Center where we viewed a movie about the waterfowl and the wild ponies. It was an interesting movie but clearly dated. Following the Visitors' Center, we drove around the... More

We visited in the late off season. Pleasant paved walking trails through woods marsh and to the shoreline. The lighthouse was very interesting and awesome to climb and get the view from on high. Special treat was a one on one closeup visit with a pony who happened along the shore as we arrived!

Originally drove here to see the ponies (which was a huge let down, they look like regular domesticated horses, and looks like i could've taken these pics anywhere) The beach, however, was really nice. It was empty and full of sea shells. The lack of people made it the highlight of my day. There were also a lot of different... More

A beautiful pristine island with thick pine forests and white sand beaches! The lighthouse was recently restored, looks amazing and is open for climbing. The ponies are always on the move but if you look hard enough you will be rewarded. The trail system within the park is top-notch and ideal for hiking and biking. The trails go both through... More

Beautiful scenery for the Atlantic Ocean and to see the pony bands on Assateague Island. There is an abundance of waterfowl wildlife and the park rangers are friendly and helpful!

My wife and I didn't have enough time to really enjoy our visit, we only spent about an hour on the island and you need more time.

Have been here a few times and it never really gets old. Lots of things to see and do if you enjoy boating, fishing, the beach, and nature hikes.

We visited both the education center and Toms cove. My Daughter did the Jr Ranger program at each. You come to the education center first. It is worth a stop. See a movie or the eagle cam and many other displays. This is also a good place to see where others have seen the ponies. We saw two bands of... More

Love hiking here. The trail to the lighthouse is short and easy and the view from the lighthouse is amazing! The Woodland Trail and Wildlife Loop are our favorites. My only wish is there were more natural trails that aren't paved, but I understand this is easier for bikes and accessibility.
